Yea, I used to live right up the street from "Wind & Sea" and I worked in LaJolla and we used to surf on the two hour lunch break. Oh the good ole' days.

Tease...........and then I had to look at a shot in the NYT of Mavericks going off today. They said a 45-50 footer came thru......Wow.....But, it does bring back good memories of living on the left coast and being on "Dawn Patrol" and going back to the shack and telling everyone to get the heck out of bed.

My wife went out to Mavericks yesterday. Obviously the news has been doing their thing, as there was something like 30,000 people out there. However, I guess if 30,000 religious freaks show up to see a supposed virgin mary-- then why wouldn't that many come to see a much more impressive act of god..... a 30-50 foot wall of water.

The guys that paddle out into the cold NorCal water with 50 footers hitting hard have true heart and balls of steel. I'm impressed.

I lived in North County/Oceanside for a couple years. Surfed Carlsbad (campgrounds or the jetty) almost every day at lunch time. In the winter, it got too big and closed out for my tastes. Give me waist to shoulder high left hand peelers any day. I ride goofy on a shortboard (well, short for a 6'3" 200lb fella)

  8. HEY, it's 13 degrees out here today! Could you please knock it off?-MIKE:p :D

    50 footers? 30,000 people? Damn!

Yeah, the windchill is 19 today. I will have to just be content sitting on my board and watching Step into Liquid.

Have you seen Riding Giants? I never had even heard of this one... Stacey Peralta that did the Dogtown films. Great documentary. I could not do waves like that. Shit, when I was on the North Shore in Oct, little 11 year old kids were paddling past me like I was standing still and heading out for the "big" waves. No thanks. hahaha.

I used to work in La Jolla also. It was for a biotech company. Used to also do the whole two hour surf break with some friends there. Now I'm working up in Temecula and can only make before or after work. I knew I had it good then..........

Roadstar and I watched it last weekend as a matter of fact. Great is putting it mildly. Normally Rudy falls asleep watching TV, no matter what time it is, but that kept him awake and on the edge of his seat thru the whole thing. We both really, really enjoyed it.

  12. Not trying to rub anything in, but I must admit that Nor Cal is hitting on all cylinders right now. It's February and the winds are offshore, the weather is in the 70's, and the surf is huge. This is not normal. But I'm glad its happening!
