I am about to get my interior done in my 60 tomorrow and I still dont know what color I sould do it in or materiel...Can I get some imput on this...What would look the best?
i would go the other way with a dark blue with white piping maybe white around the top of the seat and between the center of the seat
A light colored interior "opens" up the space, while a dark colored interior tends to "close" it up...white means not so hot in the summer while a dark interior gets damned hot, even in the shade...I always opt for a light colored interior. R-
White vinyl on the seats with white and blue on the door panels would look real nice and be period correct. Please, PLEASE tell me you're not using those modern bucket seats in the front of this car? No matter what pattern, color, or material you use, those seats are going to look like dogshit. You have a very 1960's looking car there and a set of 90's buckets are going to stick out like a boner in sweatpants. Go with a bench, or at least some very squared off, low back bucket seats, like Corvair, if you have to have buckets.
If you are going to use the new seats, and the shop your going to is decent then have them remove and fill the head rest mounts and have them reshape them more to match the rear seats. I would think that if you went true sixties stylewhite vinyl w/ diamond pattern in the inserts in a color similar to the darker tone, and match the piping to that..you would have a real smooth custom look. I wish you could have thrown this out a few days before you were getting it done, I would have loved to sketch up a few ideas for you. everyone does roll and pleat, yet there were other eras of custom car interiors. I would stick to a good vinyl no matter what, it will age best.
I think thats gonna be the choice..but with blue piping...I have taken the headrests off of the seat and they look alot better...these are old pics its been buffed out since these shots were taken... You can draw up a design if ya want...I dont have to take it tomorrow...Ill just wait till ya get it drawn up....
Do a search theres heaps of good pix on here. I have alot cause im about to get my 63 interior done...by the time i put them here the interior will probably be half done. More time would of been good!!!
Dude! If you get those panels for that 60 wagon.... give 'em to me... I need panels for my 60 wagon too. -scott noteboom
here is a quick sketch of what I was thinking...diamonds did not do it for me...but sticking to something similar to what was there factory... now on the light color...I think you have to feel out the white or the silver...then the lowwwer tone match it to the blue...
