Color / Colour find Can any of the old timer’s ID this color. Where I found the photo, they called it “Cay Coral Metallic”. When I looked it up by that name, it looks more like coffee with three creams. I would love to get the proper code to order for a current project. Thanks in advance for any help on the name or code of this color.
Yeah, it looks more like "evening orchid" a metallic paint color found on 65 GM cars...mostly on chevelles but my 65 chevelle buddy told me it could be had on any GM car if specified when ordering.
Reb, looks like most of the yellow is gone from your pic, which means the actual colour is probably the Cay Coral it says.. It's just that your pic. has only blue and red remaining. If you're trying to match a colour closer to the photo, the fellows have the right idea with the "orchid" shade. Dave
You can't always rely on color chips, especially old color chips but now that I look the 58 again, it could be a 57 Chevy Dusk Pearl or a 65 Chevy Evening Orchid Here are the charts for 65 and 57 http://www.autocolorlibrary.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1965-Chevrolet-pg01.jpg http://www.autocolorlibrary.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1957-Chevrolet-pg01.jpg Keep in mind that the colors chips are not showing the true color. You can google the name of the color to see actual cars painted that color.
Fuchsia? We used to call that Fuchsia because having a pink car was sort of well, gay, if you will forgive the bigoted remark. I think that a color either close to that or that color was offered back then just look for chevy color codes from the '50s.
Actually it did in the time period I was talking about, but the term we used could be mistaken for a cigarette or extremely offensive. I did have a pink bike once, it was really pink like in baby girl's bedroom pink. I left it that way, it kept the weekenders away from me.
My Uncle (RIP) back in the 50s, had a pink Triumph and he was in a motorcycle club called "The Flamingos". I guess pink was popular back then.
I am not sure, I always like Salmon colored Fords and it was pinkish and a real '50s color. I personally like the color if the Chevy posted. But I do remember it being called fuchsia. I never heard of the Flamingos, but I am sorry that you lost your uncle. Most of my family would not like me to exist but I had an uncle that I was very close too and family that likes you is golden. hard to loose.
Thanks ever so much guys. I like this mystery color (not Colour eh ) as accent stripes, with dark blue, and purple body. (cold side of color wheel) Doing a 60's gasser style paint job on 57 bowtie. Need to find this color or lean to a more magenta version.
