I found some pictures on the net of a few chopped Lincolns but not much info. I'm interested in build photos if anyone knows of something. I am maninly interested in the 1952-1955 Capri.

    Thanks in advance.

Don't know of any chopped although they cut the roof off the Golden Sahara completely. Not many of them were customized. A 52 - 54 Ford would be similar. Not sure if you want instructions on how to do it or just want to see what one looks like?

I find the proportions pretty good to start with, I don't think I would chop one, although if I saw one chopped and it looked cool I might change my mind.

John Aiello built a really great looking 55 for Kim Mejia. I have a lot of photos of it on the Custom Car Photo Archive. Including some in progress photo I took from the photo album.

Thanks for the pictures. I've seen a few chopped and they look great. The pics looks like they sunk the rear glass but it's hard to tell.

I got to witness Aiello do the build on Kim's Capri. My shop was behind his old place. What a craftsman.

Thanks Rik! I guess I was wrong. From these pics it seems the glass was laid down.

I recently did a mild chop on a 1953 ford. 1" chop in front, nothing in back. Roof was also pancaked about 3/4". Window frames and vent windows have been cut also. I can post pics if interested.

Thank you. I tig welded the frames with 4043 fill rod. It welded decent and is nice and strong. A good chrome shop might be able to help you out also.

First thoughts wholey sheet. That's some metal work. We have a 54 Victoria , stock body only otherwise much much changes. And a 49 coupe chopped, but heck ours is done and looks easy compared to the hammer welding required here. Great work. Am subscribed.

Thank you. The roof was moved forward about 1/2" to keep windshield post the stock angle. Back glass is stock height. I made relief cuts on the roof by the back glass to pull it down to new roof height. Doing that removed the "bubble" towards the back of the roof.

Thank you very much why not, Have got some 4043s on there way to me, fingers crossed I can make it work! Mine was 54 hardtop but someone has very crudely removed the roof leaving me with lots of bodywork and although its all good from the belt line down (zero rust), I will be cutting it very soon but have forgot how to post pics

I checked your previous posts. This Ford must be the one owned by the elderly gentleman?
Is he a long time custom enthusiast? Your '46 is also subtle, but with a ton of work. Is that what instigated this chop?

A build thread on both these cars would be nice, if possible.

Hi, yes both cars are owned by my boss Vernon McKean. 85 years old and still customizing cars and putting out beautiful top notch interiors. He comes up with all the modifications/proportions for the cars. I could probably do 100 threads just on him. Amazing man. When i get some free time, i will try and do build threads on the 2 cars.

Isn't Vernon the guy who did a lot of work on Jimmy Vaughn's cars?

Yes, he has done some work for him. Vernon's daughter and son in law have also done some work for him.
