Most likely either ignition failure when hot, or fuel boiling in the carburetor. With today's volatile gas most likely carburetor.

Check the spark when cold, when it won't start hot check the spark again. If it is just as good you can eliminate spark problems from the list.

Then check for vapor lock or carburetor problems.

What starter are you using. Running exact motor without BG carburetion Temp bumps a little in traffic, never fails to restart. I'm running a Mini starter I got from Hotheads, and cast iron truck manifolds. leave. plenty of room for circulation.

  4. 14 initial is too much. move it back around ten. then have 18 advance 28 total with pump gas. 30-32 on race gas.

Also, if you havent already, you can wire a separate switch to the starter, and one to the ignition. Then you can spin it over with no spark, then hit the ignition switch......old racecar trick when running a bunch of timing and hot engines.

PS, on the wont start, does that mean wont turn over, turns over slow, or just spins?

at cruse it maintains temp your radiator is adequate . You have an air flow problem.
Is your fan a pusher or a puller? What side of radiator is it on. Do you have a hood? Is all the air going through the radiator or around the sides or over or under radiator.

300 cfm on a fan is not going to do much of a cooling job. Was that a typo? Does the fan have a shroud?

  10. Do what rusty said.
You need to trouble shoot when it's not starting.

I have a 392 with a 6x2 setup and if its hot and been sitting for 5 or 10 minutes, you have to hold the throttle almost to the floor and crank it until it fires. To me it seems like the gas may be cooking and soaking the intake. But like has been said above check for spark when its hot first.
