Can I take the Metro to the cruise while the wife is shopping on the M mile? We are going to be in Chicago this weekend and looks like Saturday is booked up, but we do fly out on Sunday evening. Chris Nelson Oh yea, we are staying (?) downtown at the Palmer Hilton. Cheaptrip thru expedia.....
Chris - Shucks! If I were in town this weekend I would offer you a ride. If I were you I'd rent a car, because there's no real good way to get to Norridge by Metra or CTA. CTA can get you kinda close, Blue Line west to Harlem Ave or Rosemont, then short cab ride. Metra can get you kind of close to Addison, take the Union Pacific Line west to Elmhurst then cab ride. No way to get to Sycamore without a car. By the way, the Trader Vics at the Palmer House closed down recently... too bad, it was one of the original killer tiki bars in Chicago.
there isn't much downtown that doesn't cost a lot of money or isn't a chain store/bar that you could visit anywhere. There is a bar on the top floor of the Han**** building (right near Water Tower on Michigan on the Mag Mile). It's pricey, but the view is great... unless it's cloudy, then forget it. You won't see 10 feet from the gl***. I could potentially pick you up, but you'd have to find a way home from Addison, IL (where Hot Rod Ch***is is located) or wait til about 4 and I could drive you back. I doubt you'd be able to make it back in time for your flight if you went all the way to Sycamore
No problem, thanks for the offer, but I guess that we are eating "brunch" somewhere on Sunday. That is what the boss informed me. Chris
Thats bad***,drew, just dont forget the little people,up in the great white north....Is this at the shop or your new place?Wanna take on a 27 roadster, olds powered, wheel standing screaming for vengence, project? No shizzle fizzle pearl and glitter, just loud rude metal...thats the way I rolllll...
I'll take that as a yes. COOL. Looking forward to waking up the neighbors as I wake the beast early Sunday morning.
It looks like the D.I. Border Patrol is heading up for the first half of the cruise and the HR101. I'm not going to dig out the '50, but I'll be rollin' in the freshly scalloped "So-Cal" F-150, complete with Moon disc dubs. Big pimpin' .....foo.
Chris, Myself and Stromberg 97 are coming from the southeast side of Chicago right by Hegewisch if you want to meet us and roll together. We could meet at the Pete's Fresh Market on 118th and Avenue O which in Lansing and Cal City is called Burnham until it hits chicago. Let me or Stromberg 97 know. Mike
If you want us to meet up at your place before you leave, we could do that...it'd be early...we wanna hit Dennys and I'm ***uming you'll wanna be there too. Let us know what time...Not sure how long it'll take to get to Dennys from your place...maybe half an hour or less(rough guesstimate). Sent you a PM also. Lou
well, I'm outa here for the weekend. Hope to see more than one hotrod on Sunday! (This means I can't chicken out...)
Just dropping a line...I had a great time on the cruise. Nice to meet some of the Chrome Czars, Rattle Traps, Bare Bones and Voodoo Kings guys and gals. I probably forgot half of your names, but you were all cool people and I'll cruise with you anytime, anywhere. Thanks to Kevin for the open house at Hot Rod Ch***is. Looking forward to the 2nd Polar Bear cruise. I would have liked to check out Martys, but didn't make it. Hopefully next time. Take care. Lou
I didnt make the whole cruise. I just brought afew of my friend to Marty & Sons shop. They just loved the cars and workmanship of them!!!. Thanks Drew I had a great time plus food was good! Next year my truck will make it.....
Yeah, it was a great time! The 59 wouldn't start, but the Econo made it! Sorry I couldn't make it to the shop, Drew
It was great to have met many of the H.A.M.B. members at Danny's. A special thanks to "Basket Case, NumNuts" for the wram welcome. Salt on the road 28 degrees, no top, looking over the windshield, thruly this guy is a little Wrird!!!!! For sure their are many shops building traditional Rods and to visit some of the best in this area was just to much. Kevin's HRC in Addison was full of traditional rod with many new creations. Marty's and Sons, well this kids are in in another world, their ceativty is in a league of it's own. I see them doing so much in twisting and laying metal down in a style never seen before (much be all those old mags in the john). Then we took "Basket Case NumNuts" over to Lions Hot Rod in Mchenry for a tour of Jim Unruh's shop, he builds traditional Track-T's I'll take to my buddy Curt (the vidio guy) and see if can put together a short vidio Clip of our First Annual Polar Bear Cruise and Tour. Later!!!!
Good times, good times. I only wish I had a ride to freeze my *** off in. I did have a wonderful driver who put his Escape wherever I asked so I could click off a bunch of pictures.... Balls... pure balls... part of the crew more cars let the games begin!
