I've never been and wife and I are considering attending. We might just try to do saturday only, but we're open for suggestions. We won't be showing anything this time, but any tips, tricks, or help of any kind would be appreciated. Thanks
Be prepared to walk all day. it is a beautiful large fairgrounds and every inch will be full. Lots of vendors, lots of cars, lots of people. Always stuff going on, bands playing, food and more. Certainly worth it. But one day will leave you wanting more...........
Went for the first time last year and heading there again this year. x2Davyj. Plan on a lot of walking and much to see
Lots of walking. The blacktop never ends and is hot. 12000 cars. 500 are red Chevelles. Then 600 black Camaros. But there is a great old school section and an incredible mix of cars and trucks. Just power thru the stuff you don't care about and spend time looking at the stuff you like. I'm not crazy about the flea market area. Seems like everything is made of gold or at least priced like it is. Usually some good live bands in the old school area.
You won't be disappointed. Get there early (08:00) and plan to walk as mentioned above. Last year we had just over 8,000 cars on Saturday. Saturday is the best day, but the crowd gets packed by noon. There is a lot to see in just one day, thus the suggestion to get there by 08:00. The weather is going to be typical Syracuse weather on Saturday. In the Mid 80's with a 30% "chance" of Thunderstorms in the afternoon. This is typical and most likely we won't see any Rain. VR&C. 7 Day Forecast
Always a great time. The vehicle year cut off on Friday and Saturday is 1980. Sunday I believe they open it up for newer cars. No doubt you will see whatever you are into. Good selection of indoor and outdoor vendors and displays. Great place to gather ideas, inspiration and maybe even some parts for your own build. Most people I meet are there to have a good time and are always willing to talk to you about their vehicles. Last year we met a guy who helped us score some nice hard to find parts for my friends 33 Plymouth build. Oh ya, there is a lot of walking. We usually ride the free people movers once or twice around the fairgrounds. Good way to see some of the stuff you might miss if you try to walk the entire grounds in a day. Friday is usually the less crowded day. Have a good time.
Most Fun I have with my Hot Rod all year!! Its definitely a lot of walking, for show cars its really easy in and out the one year I didn't show (hit a deer a week before the show) I stayed until 5 then it was a lot of traffic and a long wait getting out of the spectator lot but that is to be expected at that time in any city. Have a Great time !! Jim
