Hot Rods 1932 Buick - Can It be considered Traditional ??????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by roddin-shack, Jul 15, 2015.

  1. The Buick exhibits a lot of cl***. as people have said, a few minor changes, and you are golden. I would be proud to have it in my garage.

Maybe not traditional hot rod but could be a cool coachbuilt style custom if you s****e off some of the 80's easy-cheeze and added the right details.

I agree with what most have said. Less striping, different mirrors/tail lights, do something with the rear spare, and I am not personally fond of the wheels, they look tacky to me. Although maybe if you put the 50's Chrysler wire wheel style centers with the knockoffs on them and a more appropriate tire, they could work.

Damn!! That thing is beautiful!! Maybe a couple of things I would change to make it less street roddy, but I wouldn't kick it out of bed for eating crackers.

Ya know, hopped up right 8 with dual carbs would make the car look even better! Great the way it is though. Is it a McLaughlin??

Not a McLaughlin, the car was imported after being purchased at a high end auction in the U.S.A. and has had limited mileage on it since, due to health issues.

A kick ***, super nice car probably much nicer then anything owned by all those who are calling for changes to be made to it. Its easy to nit pick someone else's car and spend their money. Does it have to be a **** box to be "traditional"? Things like moving the tag, to be quite honest with you there's not really another place to put it. I think the builder was pretty creative putting it right where it is.
If it were me I'd leave it alone, drive the wheels off it and enjoy the Hell out of it. No one but the owner has to like it.

I believe that this vehicle would be cl***ified as a Retro. Not a Hot Rod in the traditional scope and one step above a Street Rod. The chopped top sets this vehicle apart, but it goes very well with the overall form of the vehicle. When someone says traditional, I am thinking what would a 16 to 25 year old guy build in the late 40 and 50s. Retro vehicles are often the result of a father and son team, where the father says, "we are not going to screw up this car by taking off all of the fenders, painting flames, mag wheels, air shocks, bucket seats, 4 speed and installing a big block with tunnel ram, no sir, this car is going to look good in the Governs driveway.
Great looking as a result of fine workmanship--very well done.

Update, Made a few changes, the car runs great and handles like a long wheel base car should.

My dad had one like it in the early 50s, the windows were plate gl*** and the roof leaked. Got hit by 1 50 chevy that totaled the Chevy and left a medium sized dent in the Buicks front fender. Those fenders had more metal in them then a new F150s frame. Really nit picking but it should have a Buick engine in it. I could live with it though
