Anyone know where to get it other than eastwood? Which works best, 90/10 or 70/30? How many of you still use it ? Thanks
I actually have the eastwood kit, and the video on how to do it. It wound up being better for me to use margl*** and bondo because of the amount of sculpting I needed to do on my chop. If you would be interested in it, drop me a PM.
I use the 70/30. I've always gotten mine from Eastwood, although there must be someplace cheaper. I love working with the lead. It's sort of like welding - the more you do, the better you get at it.
The Last place I purchased a bunch from was Senik Paint in Costa Mesa California. Senik Paint Co 1985 Placentia Ave, Costa Mesa, CA 92627 (949) 642-8141 I don't remember how their prices compared with Eastwood and what I purchased back then was 70/30
Hey, 70/30 has been an industry standard for as long as I can remember. The 50/50 is a little fluid for vertical work, but is/was available from plumbing supply houses. Mercury Metals in los Angeles use to sell it at a good price. Today I buy it at swaps and garage sales. I wouldn't walk across the street ta piss on Eastwood if it was on fire, personally! Thanks for the info guys. I don't think I gona have a problem workin it ,just don't have any to work with. I had a bunch one time years ago, but I melted it down to make bullets. I still got the files and paddles ect.
sticky lifter check yur PMs. Interested in your eastwood kit. let me know the details man,...thanks Jason
well ****, i have about 70lbs of 50/50......thought i had something..... it would be good for a person learning though, right....
Hey, It's like this: body solder is composed of 30 percent tin and 70 percent lead. Plumbing/general purpose solder is composed of 50 percent tin and 50 percent lead. 30/70 melts at 'bout 500 degrees, 50/50 melts @ 'bout 420 degrees. It's that larger window of workability, where the solder is in a plastic, not fluid state, that you're after, especially when learnin'. Ya may be able to use 50/50 if the panel you're leading can be placed on a bench, or horizontal. S****ey Devils C.C.
...can make some sinkers out of it.....****, i don't fish! ....can make some bullets.....****, don't have reloading eq. .....practice with it..... sounds good, thanks for the tips~!
