If the carbon content was that high, they couldn't' be bent into channels without cracking.

 

Well you hear a lot of things. What have you seen?
I have only been boxing old ford frames for about 45 years ( give or take a little bit) but it wasn't something that I invented someone was doing it long before I came along. Pretty easy for me to be wrong but not everyone, right?

if you want a custom frame then get one but don't let some old wives tale be your reason do it because that is what you want to do.

 

Here's a couple referance pictures for wheels and tires.
This is a '29 with a stock suspension.
It has '40 Ford wheels, Goodyear 6-00-16's front and back.
Gives you an idea how much you can lower.

For what it's worth, it sounds like this is not the first rodeo for F-ONE. It's sound advice without breaking the bank, and a short time until you are driving it.

 

. volvobrynk, you have the right idea, and there may be no divorce if the dude doesn't give his wife an "ultimatum" like they do in Australia. We live in up/over, not down/under.

I do and have run mono springs on several cars,my truck had them front and rear.

Set up correctly and notching the frame where the spring doesn't hit there is no problem with breaking. HRP

 

This particular body style of Model A has always intrigued me. A '29 hood and grille and a '30-'31 cowl. Do you know the story about this? I'd like to find out.

 

Gary, I am no Ford historian, but I'm told this is a Briggs body.
Ford built the chassis, engine, fenders etc, which are '29.
Then it was sent out or a body by Briggs came to the factory and was installed.
There are many detail differances. I don't know them all.
The cowl is definately different. the front window doesn't push out.
The dash is shaped differently, and the back is blind.
Can't help much more.

You might be right, I just seen some modern mono leaf break on trucks and vans overhere, no big deal, the usually just comes to a grinding holt, literally.
And they have there traveling in the direction of the car and its path .

I have no knowledge about the quality of monoleaf as a brand, I just don't like the concept of a single layer spring, but it might just be me, being a broken record or a wet blanket.
