Projects Unearthing a StAr DeStroyer! 1931 Coupe w/394 olds-

I think the plan is run the 394 olds mated to the short shaft lasalle with a 57-64 olds rear. Waiting to get the pics to see what it had for a frame- the brackets are too wide for the model a frame so I'm ***uming it ran deuce rails and wasn't channeled the full 6" the brackets are only about 4" tall but they measure 31" -31 1/2 or so bolt hole to bolt hole at the cowl. The back of the body is notched out on each side too for a wider frame or?? I dunno... its killing me waiting for the pics.

I'm just gonna run steel wheels with hub caps and put cycle fenders on the front (have them). I want to find a six deuce setup for the olds just like it had too. There is a setup on ebay I would buy right now if I had the extra cash.

I put my rusty 67 S-code up for sale so if it sells it'll be fun times in the shop with hot rods.

I know that feeling...its not just an "A" ;it's THE "A".Always fun to get to stepback and fufill your own past dreams.Looks like its gonna be a great combo. Anxious to watch your progress. Edit: Setting a kid up with the other "A" = Good karma to the MAX!

Oh yeah! I can hear it now, beatin down the streets with no mufflers and scavenger pipes......394 Olds poppin and rumblin. I'd have to take some CRL to the surface rust tho. A duece frame would buy you a little height for your seat...at your height you'll prolly need it if you channel the body much.

 

Actually there is little "surface rust" it's all dirt. If I wipe with steel wool all the brown comes off... It's just gray primer-

You can see the little gray patch above the door that looks like crazy rust- just dirt piling up there since before I was born-

Wow!!! Great story! Is it pretty close to stock other than being channeled and the fire wall? Stock dash?

 

Top rail of dash is stock has a bottom curved piece that's made out of wood with Stewart Warner gauges in it- @el Heuso

All of these 5window Model A builds are making me so jealous

 

I just noticed the cycle fenders. You just got upgraded to " hot rod hero" status in my books. Olds, side shift cad, channeled, and CYCLE FENDERS!
I have a 6 yr old daughter, used to be when I reflected back on the best moments in my life, they all involved either drag racing, or 'dirty girls" and public places. Now they all involve her...

Not only is a survivor something that rocks my boat, a lot, but channeled with out a chop! That's awesome enough on its own, and then you plan to run bike fenders. If you tell us you are gonna run bobbed rear fenders, I most likely "shoot" myself from inside my pants. [emoji41][emoji33]

Congrats an a great score-and on a car you've had your eyes on forever. Normally 58 Chevy taillights on a Model A would make me puke (as a bad sign), but I say leave them and all the other character the old Rod has. Looks like you have a great build plan that will make Billy proud.

Ah I love a great drug a hot rod with a history home thread. I've got to follow this one to see where it goes.

 

Great story so far and I expect it will only get better..........Love the local history part.

That trip was epic... you probably thought we were crazy!! That pic is awesome. I'll never forget driving though that snow storm all the way to Texas... there was snow all the way to Texarcana-
