Ok been putting on some miles on my new 29 Roadster build. She's a fun little buggy to drive. Now for some adjustments...... Here's what I have in mind. I'm going to maintain my original stock height windshield and top but I want to do up just a chopped windshield on those days when it's just perfection for the stripped, top down run.........as it is an very easy off/on procedure. I would need another set of stanchions, windshield fame and flat safety gl*** cut to fit. Looking for ideas on amount of chop. I'm not all that crazy about the laid back shield look just a nice looking chop....... ideas? pics of different chops.
Sounds like you're not going to use a top with it, so it doesn't really matter how much you chop it? I'd say 2" - 3" would look good, although it also looks great stock in your avatar.
I know you said you don't like the leaned-back look but this thread is a pretty decent collection of chopped roadster pics.
Thanks. The original shield is just a little to tall for my liking......looks like a stock Model A with the fenders removed.....not the Hot Rod look I'm after.
Oh and I guess I'm not opposed to the two piece 29 roadster stanchions......then I would have a chop and a laid back if I chose....... I wonder what the chop is on Jakes?
Cut some, tack mock up. If you think it needs more, cut some more then tack, mock etc. Sneak up on it until you get it how you like. And don't for get to sit in it...you don't want the top of the windshield frame right at your eyeline. That's why you can't just go off a measurement.
You could always run masking tape across the current one to figure where your eyeline actually is, to get a ballpark.
