Any ideas what seats work in a '55 second series pickup? My stocker is pretty beat up and all the ones I've seen in the junkyard are worse. There is a pretty good selection of a little later stuff though. Its got steps inside the door jambs so the later seats are most likely too wide. I've heard of using a Sububan 3rd seat, any sugestions? Thanks, Jim
i had an s-10 in mine. it was a little too narrow, and i have to agree with squirrel, they just don't look right. check out automotiveinteriors.com they can make you a seat cover to fit on your seat for less money and h***le it would be to find something you like.
I used a seat from a '66 Dodge Fury III in my 59 chevy pickup, fit's like it was built for it. The seat risers line up exactly inside the step plates.
'60s Lincoln or '70s El Dorado both fit ... I like the 6 way power, armrest, and leather for a wrecking yard price ... 302
I had a 70s Caddy seat in my 59 truck, it was one of the worst mistakes I ever made...the seat back is so thick that it pushes you up towards the dash, it's very uncomfortable being scrunched up like that. Went back to a stock truck seat. Maybe if you're 5 foot 2 it would be ok
Bench seat out of a 55 chevy sedan is perfect, might even be same dimensions. there're a little pricey though.
TRUE...so true.... I did the same in my 55 Cameo truck.....it lasted about 3 weeks...and took it out....but I am 6 foot 2 inches abd close to 300.....
i put a bench seat form a 89 chevy 1500 truck in my 56 chevy pickup. looks good, fels good, the old lady likes it.
I got a set of buckets from a 58 Apache panel truck with SOLID steel backs on them. PM me if interested
Thanks for all the ideas. I will be sure to post what I pick up at the junkyard next weekend. They have all the seats you guys suggested, I'll just have to see what I come home with. Thanks, Jim
