I would like to respond to a thread notification, but I can't find it. So, I'll just respond this way. Yes, Moses Barnes Daniels was one of the ORIGINAL Ramchargers. In fact, he was one of 3 at a table in the Chrysler cafeteria when the idea of such an organization was formed. How original can you get? (The other 2 were Herman Mozer, the first president, and myself.) Herman did some driving (the club's High&Mighty) and had his own NHRA record holding E/G '53 Dodge (241 hemi). If it were not for Herman, Barnes would probably have been the E/G record holder with his '57 Plymouth. Barnes' car had a continental kit filled with concrete and an interesting "tuned" intake with 8 Carter side drafts. The Tom Hoover car I remember was a '57 Plymouth convertible with a 392 and a tuned intake utilizing a plenum and 2 AFBs. This car held the NHRA C/GA records. Incidentally, the name was originally "Ram Chargers," but it was easier to change the name to the Hot Rod magazine misprint. Don't remember a Rupp, but I left Chrysler shortly after the '59 Nationals and he might have joined later. There was a Dwight Kanupp, or something like that. Went into sports car racing. For a history of those early days of the Ramchargers, see my site (shopeshop.org).
Thanks, 2racer. And, the URL that was added to my post no longer exists. Go to: http://www.shopeshop.org
