Hot Rods What's it worth?? 1938 Ford standard sedan

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by scrap metal 48, Jul 11, 2015.

  1. It cleaned up nicely. I'd call it a good deal since it is a complete car with low miles.

I agree, a heck of a deal and a nice survivor!
Not many close to home in that condition for anyone.

I agree, no body or paint work is worth a LOT!!! And extra parts to sell, get back a lot of your money, Go for it!

I disagree^^^.. If there is a consensus of a certain amount of worth, then I feel it is pertinent to the question asked.. But since I bought it, it is moot now...

It is a bit difficult to find a Standard '38 that hasn't had a right taillight added by someone. It is a TRUE Standard.

If I bought any car with only one tail/brake/turn light I'd add a matching right hand light also!

Got no keys with the car and couldn't unlock the trunk or steering wheel.. Took the door lock out and had a new key made and WOW, it also fit the steering wheel ignition and lock.. Received new trunk cylinder with keys today and drilled out the old and installed the new.. Now I have keys to all locks.. Doesn't take much to get me excited anymore...

Cleaned up nice! Looks like just a couple of door dings in front fender.

  17. Very nice car. I'd dump an 85 horse in it, dropped axle and big-n-littles and call it a day

Again..........here we go with a guy who can't bother reading the whole thread before jumping in on the "these threads are useless blah blah blah" train.
Does anyone read the thread for themselves anymore?

Awesome score Scrap, I've always appreciated these cars. There used to be a very similar one running around a couple hours north of here that really did it for me.

By the way, I love the way you did your shop, looks very cool inside and out, and the two kick ass cars dont hurt either :)

I just started putting a dual leaf spring rear under it.. I sold all the parts I didn't want for $2,000 to one guy.. That got the purchase price down to $4.800.. Good starting point.. I should have it on the road by spring.. My model A's were uncomfortable and didn't like driving them on the interstate for very long.. The sedan will have all new suspension, disc brakes, crate motor and even an automatic(I'm almost 70).. I want it low and original looking both out and in.. I'll update as I go...

Made some progress this winter.. It just about wore this 70 year old body out getting all the rivets out with the body still on the frame.. I won't be doing that again any time soon.. I also have the new motor and trans in place and almost ready to fire.. I can't wait to get the front sheet metal back on.. More later... 100_3857.JPG 100_3858.JPG 100_3861.JPG 100_3862.JPG 100_3867.JPG
