I'm doing some home remodeling and I had a lot of debris. I loaded up the bed of my truck as high as the top of the cab and took that thing down to the local dump and did my business.

Man it feels good to have a REAL truck that I can load up and haul garbage... wash'er down... and still roll around town.

How many of you guys use your truck like a truck?

I've hauled a few yards of mulch, loads of rock, a few engines, some motorcycles, a Berkley 328e, an entire 1950's kitchen from Detroit (half in a u-haul trailer), and my 4x8 lincoln futura go-kart.

On a related note, my stepbrother has IBS and took a dump in my old Acura. I sold the car and told the new owner it was a coffee stain. I felt guilty but I just couldn't drive the car again after that and the truth would have killed the resale value.

3:30am on a sunday, north on i95 through delaware, heading home to philly from a girl's place in baltimore i found myself pulling over to drop a duece under an overpass. i don't have ibs, and i don't remember what i had to eat, but all i do know is the vibration of my old shovelhead was too much for me to take, and well.....

sorry, maybe i should have kept that story to myself...

I have two old trucks '37 Chevy and a '47 Ford- both are set up to tow with - actually I am just finishing up the '47's tow ready status. Niether are creme puffs - nope these are meant to be used and used they are. The '37 has a dump bed - I've had dirt, rocks, busted up concrete, car parts - you name it. It always a blast taking a load of broke up concrete to the dump. First they think I'm nuts for even loading up my old truck - and they TOTALLY flip when I hit the switch to dump the bed.

Yup, all the time............my 1 ton pickup hauls trash, pulls trailers every week, picks up engines and transmissions, does it all and doesn't wimper about it.

  9. Shocked the hell out of a buddy whe I pulled the 15' dead birch tree out of his fron yard with my '42 GMC. Dropped it into granny gear, let out the clutch, hit the gas and POP! out came that tree. Hauled his sofa home in it too, but the best was going to get the Christmas tree in that old truck. Man I miss it...

I ain't never owned a pickup that didn't have to earn it's keep. I've got half a load of crap in mine for about a month, including an early mustang 8 inch, some odd assortment of early 50s wheel covers, several odd 30s headlights, some crap my buddy threw in there including a pile of pulleys and some kind of gas tank, a pair of 27 Illinois plates, three Stanley Bedrock planes, gas cans oil, power steering fluid.
My best bud uses his chopped 48 F-1 everyday in his tree removal business, hauling chainsaws and climbing gear.

Here's a rear on it's way out of the back of mine. In the bed is the rest of a complete, but chopped up Big Block Modified.

Who here has a truck that doesn't work for a living?
