Hello all! I am very new to anything related to the cl***ic car world. So I am wondering if you guys can tell me what this car is worth. I have seen similarly done cars up for sale for high 40's. I have also seen them for sale even higher and lower than that. I will do my best to describe this car to you guys! If you need anymore information just ask me! I am also going to look at it tomorrow. So is there anything that I absolutely need to check for when looking at it? The owner says the car was his grandfathers and has been in the family since new. Original steel body with 55k original miles. He says best of "everything" and all upgraded, alll within the last 5 years. Drives it long distances with no issues. Has a long parts list he says. This is the basics of what I know about it now, it has a 355 motor, 4 speed built trans, coilovers, power steering, power brakes, heat, new tires, brakes, new PA inspection, everything works as it should. interior looks a little outdated, or maybe bland. Again if you guys need more information to get an accurate value, let me know.
Bad chop, mismatched gauges, Walmart steering wheel, Summit upholstery, wrong headlights, list goes on. Whomever put it together only had taste in their mouth. Looks like a $9,000 car to me as it would need a lot of work to be "right".
Really nothing on the car is the best of anything. All of the parts that can be seen in the pics are swap specials or on the lower end of the spectrum. Jegs motor, painted block huggers. parts store alternator, cheap gauges, seats, shifter, steering wheel..... If the body and paint are nice its a 15-20K car. I would buy that car all day long for 9K.
If I was willing to live with the chop and paint color I'd go 12-13K. The chop has a real turret tank look to it in the pics. I'd be wanting to change a lot of things on that car to fit my tastes and personally don't like the chop so I'd keep looking. For me it needs new interior, new wheels and engine detailing at minimum. But just my opinion.
I'm with all the above input. Not a well designed high quality build. If it runs and drives and you just need a beater for around $10k then it is okay.
Something that may help with the price is tat original miles only count on a stocker. if everything has been rebuilt original miles is a kind of a moot point. The rest has already been pointed out to you.
I would not buy that car at any price. The chop ruined it and it looks like a very old build and a poor one at that.
Aside from what the others have said, that thing screams body filler to me. If you're going to look at it, bring a magnet.
Man....one of my favorite cars....but just cant get behind that one. Civic Buckets, early 90's camaro shifter and home made console, GM column with a grant GT steering wheel. And I know I am being picky but I hate chevy motors in fords and vice versa, esp in that car....All fixable stuff but at what cost. And I noticed off the bat its chopped but something doesnt look right. Not good enough to know what though. Cool car to start with but it would have to be cheap.
sits too high in front , also front suspension is too wide....must be a subframe swap? i do like the front nerf bars...he must of copied me
It looks like a '35 with a '36 nose. I say that because there is no "X" beads in the side of the cowl and the rear fenders look like '35's as well. Have the wheel openings in the rear fenders been modified? They look odd to me. Are the fenders steel or gl***? Front end looks really wide, might be the wheel offset but I'd question what front end it has. As already mentioned, the chop looks off, the interior is undesirable, and the wheel choice is horrible. I'd p*** unless its really cheap
If it wasn't for the chop, everything else could be corrected without much pain...it almost looks like something just fell on the roof. Depending on the asking price, and if you like blue, it might work out okay for you. Personally, I wouldn't buy it for any price because I don't have the skills to fix the chop, nor could I afford to pay to have it done and repainted...but man, that's a lot of blue there.
May be able to pull off a tail dragger custom with that thing .... (???) .... but yeah, the chop/hot rod look killed it. Almost looks like a rear sectioning to slide the rear roof forward two inches towards the door, would help the proportions. At least it sounds easier to work with it ... then raising the whole damned thing back up. Sheeez' .... An interior thrash, tire and wheel change, some factory hood sides, rear skirts, chrome trim accents put back on, darker period paint, and maybe some flippers could do wonders there. Doesn't do ya' any good for me to drop a price on you .... that guy isn't gonna' pay someone to "fix it" .... to him, it already is fukd' ... err' I mean "fixed". Yeah, that's what I meant.
Looks too much like a street rod to me. Lots of good advice above. Probably worth 10 grand to have a car to drive , but may be a low end build that could start self-destructing before too long. "You get what you pay for".
WOW! Thanks guys. You really saved me a 7 hour drive and a possible ton of money. Seeing as this car is nothing like he described to me. I was actually planning on trading my 2005 corvette for this. (He kept saying its worth 50k, its worth 40k, blah blah blah: but I guess thats how you know something is fishy. When he is willing to trade for a 25k car.) Some of the obscure prices out there almost had me believing him, that I would be able to get even 30-35k for this car. Again...thank you guys so much. I would not doubt your knowledge and advice for a second.
A chopped 36 Ford does nothing for me. I think it ruins the proportions of the car. Now a bad chop is even worse. The rest of the car is not even marginal. Buy that car and you'll own it the rest of your life. Gary
A good chop on a 35-36 3 window is perfection. 5 windows seem to be much harder to get right. Sedans seem even harder. That car is all kinds of awkward.
This Australian built fibregl*** piece of **** i have at least has a well proportioned chop. Have spent countless hours trying to get it right and have fitted a windout windshield, working cowl vent and fake roof insert.
