Hi, I hope I'm in the correct place to ask this question. I have a '37 V-8 transmission I'm contemplating putting in my stock '29 Model A Tudor. I'll be using the adapter kit from Cling's. I'm not sure what I'll need to connect the trans output shaft to the A's closed driveshaft. Anyone knowledgeable with this swap that can guide me? Thanks, Bunny
Excellent question for fordbarn.com. In fact they are currently discussing this topic (http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1141510#post1141510). Use the archives. Or you might call Clings. I think all you need that you might not already have is the clam shell around the end of the torque tube that goes with the later transmission. Other than that it all bolts together. As Charlie says, you will need the 4 bolt V8 torque tube bell often called clamshell that goes with the V8 gearbox. The Model A u-joint splines marry with the V8 output shaft, and in fact the U joints are all the same '28-'48.
You will need to mount the model A pedals and hand brake onto the 37 trans. Does the Clings kit include this?
To the best of my knowledge "YES" but you should address the question to them directly (sometime things change). I believe it also includes the mount for the wishbone. Charlie Stephens
