I DO believe you have the two most popular Fords to come down the pike.

  7. Those Slopers are kinda weird looking. Don't know that I've ever seen a side view of one. Seems strange that Ford would use all together different design, tooling, dies, etc. in Australia for what seems to just be a different version of the 2-door sedan. Doesn't seem "cost-effective" and we all know that Henry was always thinking of ways to keep costs in line.

I don't want to "hi jack" this thread but FYI many U.S. manufactures produced slopers down under. I'm pretty sure there was a thread on the subject here a while back and it was loaded with photos.:)

OF THE 40 DELIVERIES THAT WERE MADE 740 WERE STANDARDS AND CAN BE IDENTIFIED BY A #54 PREFIX ON THE VIN. CONFUSION OVER THE YEARS WAS CAUSED PARTIALLY SINCE DELIVERIES/WOODIES/CONVERTIBLES BECAME PARTS CARS FOR 40 COUPES AND THE FRONT CLIP WAS THE FIRST ITEM REMOVED.

No one is even gonna question this? One of two things is happening here, either its not as obscure as I thought, or everyone just thinks I screwed up and is too polite to say...:pThat IS a '39/'40 "Ford" convertible in the top pic...;)

I could be wrong, but I think it (they were built - by all the major car makers in the late 30's - GM from '35) to be halfway between a coupe & tudor/two door sedan and do away with both those body styles, meaning we didn't get (I believe) 39-40 coupes or tudors out here.
