Now that the 3100 Truck is done & gone I am now going to concentrate on another car that has been lurking on the back burner for a couple of years.
Acquired this very solid `39 from a fellow HAMB member that was out of garage space with a stack of parts.
It looked like it had sat in a body shop for decades covered in bondo & primer dust so I scrubbed it down and the body is awesome other than needing the rear tail pan as most do.
Progress so far is the chassis is rolling with an IFS tubular front suspension, rack & pinion and the 8" Ford rear is hung from a Chassis Engineering spring setup as low as I can get it.
Gonna be a 302/C4 power setup so should be a nice driver.
Some work in progress pics and more to come.

Hope you do a build thread for us to watch you turn this dream into a reality! Looks like a good solid body to start with.

  5. Great body. Like the body dolly, did you shape the stringers to match the floor pan?

Boy, that body looks really solid. In New York it would need the tail pan, door bottoms, quarters, floors and the bottom of the cowl.

The body was sitting on that dolly in the bodyshop for years and it came with the car and it is shaped to the mount locations.
The fenders, hood and lid were all rust free but had a few dents. I`ll repair those all day long verses rust.
I`ll post as I get further along if interested.
These bodies have to be really low to look good IMO.

    Gotta decide on color now.

Decide on color yet? My 40 Tudor was cloud mist grey originally and I am considering that although I have always liked 40 's in dark colors.

  14. I would cast a vote as well for Cloud Mist Grey. Sweet '39.

After carefully considering black & getting over that hurdle, I`ve decided on Niles Blue/green (listed as a `41 color but it was used before that year).
Going with light buckskin interior and similar colored `35 wires welded to new 15" hoops w/blackwalls.
Of course as low as I can get away with and still have an oil pan.

aerocolor - how about an update!

  23. That is a great looking body. Who's 5wndw in your avatar? Also, do I have you confused with another Hamber or did you not just build a '29 roadster? Be tough having to divide your time between two or three girlfriends!!! Tim

Yeah, well I just did an about face on the `39 and gave it up to my buddy Kenny that was looking for something to stick an LS motor in. Sucks! And I hate stopping but it`ll come around again and I`ll try to keep you all up on the progress with Kenny. He wants it black and on the ground. All of the body work is done and I`m still painting it.

Hey Tim! I did just finish a `29 fendered roadster recently then did a `36 shop truck right after the roadster.
Brought a `30 sedan home the other day and I`m trying to decide whether it`s worth my time or just let it go.
Just redid the 3w to kill some of the nineties ugly and I`m really happy with the way it looks now.

The 5w in the avatar is my old coupe I recently bought back from Kenny so I felt I owed him a deal on the `39 when he asked...
    Too many cars.
    How about some pics?

    Nope. Older pic.
The drivetrain now pushed my wifes `50 Chevy 3100 around complete with a/c.
That`s the easy way to power a hotrod.
I used the engine, trans, brake pedal/booster, gas pedal, steering column and driveshaft.
The rest got parted out and scrapped.
