My new very nice clean Texas garage find although I did pick it up in PA, I will be putting a 409 in her
Looks like it may have actually been a PA garage find that had originally set many years out in the Texas sun, but anyway not to split hairs, I love it
I just walked into a friends father in-laws garage, and there was a 63 with a 409 4spd, perfect interior, trim and body. He died 2 years ago and no one drives the car.
Nice score. Love those Biscaynes and BelAirs. My 63 BelAir thats for sale on the HAMB Cl***ifieds. "Done" car with all the bells and whistles. SOLD-SOLD Gary
Seen it listed and thought what a great project for the right person. I'm glad the right person scored it. I'm a fan of those X-frames, and you've got some beauty's. Keep us updated.
Just thinking, how cool would it be to do the killer drive-line you're known for, and leave the rest as is? You already got the pretty & pretty fast covered. How about a junkyard dog this time?
I took my road test for my license in one of those. Although I had been driving a lot of different things and was comfortable driving, I was a little nervous with a stranger riding with me watching my every move. We were going down a street and he told me to make a right turn so I rolled down the window and had my left arm out the window to do the mandatory hand signal and I took my right hand off the wheel to shift down to 2nd from 3rd - no hands on the wheel!! As soon as I did that I thought "you dumb **** - there goes this chance for your license" but I guess the examiner wasn't looking at that moment and hadn't seen my bonehead move. We got back to the DMV without any further ado and when I stopped to let him out he told me I did fine and my license would be in the mail. Must have been my lucky day.
Mister BSL409 ... That looks like a solid bunch of tin You found! Good luck on the project, man! ... Subscribed startinnnng now.
Nice find. I have been searching for a 1962 Biscayne for a while now. Hard to find good, straight , rust free ones. Look forward to the build. Your 61 looked great this week-end. Still amazed to see that car launch as hard as it does. Not many 9 second 409's out there ( not that I have seen).
This brings back so many memories!!! Me and grandpa and my dad built me a '62 biscayne Tudor post. Same color and everything, pretty much same condition! It's got a 283 with a 700r4... We think the rear end is about a 3.2 but she sings a pretty song going down the highway, 75 mph at about 2200 rpm
And power steering, which reminds me... If you are going to put power steering on yours, let me try to find out what box we put on on my car before you go and do the guess and check method... We went through I think 7 or 8 boxes!!
You're in deep! Front & rear gl*** out, rust issues there, or prepping for a full paint job? Plenty of good metal for the pans to weld to. What are the plans other than a W?
I have the roof, tops of the quarters cowl and dash all stripped and epoxy primed the new floors are all welded in
My 64 Biscayne after being stored in a barn for 46 years and sold in an estate sale. The car was totally original. It has since been lowered and now has four wheel disc brakes. What a great car to start a project with. View attachment 3035054 View attachment 3035054 Gary
How did the inner rockers look. Man what I would give to start with something that nice. Is the shifter hole close to what the factory had or is that just from years of running a 4 gear?
Similiar to mine only different brand. New Mexico car bought in New York State. Its in body shop purgatory right now. Our shop so i have no one to blame.
