Had a 4-door flat top Super 88, loved it. Sold it way to cheap. Put 98 taillights in it, over 100 small chrome bullets in the grill, white tuck and roll seat covers. Also put lake pipes and dummy spots on it. Wish I still had it. Does this count?

Got a flat top 4dr dynamic 88. Nice car, but has a 58 371 in it. I have a 59 371 that I am working on, and will hook a dual range hydramatic (not Jetaway) to it. Who cares if P is useless, just shift to R.

Exactly! Yeah. Lots of difference between 58-59 371s. Mines a dynamic 371 w 3x2. Love that car.

What does your engine code read? Does it start with B or C? 58 371s start with B, 59's start with C.

Mine, in the car starts with B, so it looks to be a 58 371. My replacement engine definitely is a C, as it has the newer valve covers, along with spin on oil filter.

Was wondering if some of the 58 engines happened into early 59 dynamic 88s?

J2 option was only for 57-58 371s. Aftermarket 3x2 manifolds were available for 394s, so that might be what you have.

Got any pics of your engine?

You know of any people that might have a good 59 or 60 371 block? I found out that my 59 block has a huge crack in the right rear cylinder. I am pretty sure it is a goner. Also would like to know if 58 heads and intake manifold would fit on a 59 block?

Mines definitely a late 371 (looks like 394). My 3x2 intake is from offy. Ross racing engines could help you with a block. They're big on early olds motors. I don't believe 58 heads will fit 59 block. Intake is definitely different.

When I was having my old 64 corvette painted, the body shop gave me a 59, 4 door sedan 88 to drive. It was the extremely rare gold and white paint scheme. Ran good but the generator seized up one night and the rear end blew up coming home from work in the snow. How the hell does a 9.2 inch 59 olds third member break in the snow?????
I was glad to have my old car back.

  14. Here's a couple I have. A 98, and a 88. Not sure exactly what my plans are yet. Would make nice builds, but I do have a lot of other builds I want to do.

  15. I have a set of original 3 bar spinner hubcaps for a 59 in my loft somewhere. They are missing a couple of clips but otherwise in good shape.I was going to use them on my Safari but found the Riviera wheels instead.

I want to put disc brakes up front using a Scarbird kit. They recommend a dual master cylinder. Anyone else running a dual master cylinder? If so what did you use?

  19. They are great looking cars, 59 was one of my favorite body styles. I found a nice tin toy of one years ago. I thought you Olds guys would like to see it. This is when America made the best cars and Japan made the best toys. Ron...

  20. I put the Cadzilla next to it to show size.
