    I have a puzzle.
After running my 305cid Chevy there is a black oil drip. It comes from the hole in the bottom of the plastic shroud between the oil pan and the transmission drain pan.
My oil is clean; my tranny fluid is clean.
What is the source of this?
    Thanks for your help.

It's either a rear main oil seal leaking or the front pump seal of the transmission. It's probably getting black from the residue inside the cover. I would remove the cover and have a look. It will probably answer your question pretty quickly. You can run the engine while that cover is off and see what's going on under there. Joe

    Thanks,
