That is a great looking chop. Most people screw up the quarter windows and back glass areas. Looking good! What are the taillamps? looks like early fords mounted on the bumpers?

  11. My '41 Plymouth. I still have a while to go. I have a '41 Buick grill going in, possible Carson top, DeSoto bumpers and so on.

I hated Bruce's '40 custom, almost everything about it, BUT I was like a moth to a flame, because it was so well done. Then I met him and almost fell in love with the car, HE was such a nice guy! IT HAD A CHROME 1940 FORD STEERING WHEEL, Now remember, they were plastic,, he wouldn't disclose to me HOW THE HELL THAT HAPPEN. Real nice person, liked that I was intrigued by his car. Looks alot neater in person. Wonder where it is. RIP Bruce..

Lotta 1/4 windows in coupes got filled around Longview Washington in early 50's..

i'm not sure about the date of the shot, maybe early 50's..

    Cheers, Carsten

Here's my '36. Planning on keeping this simple. Will repaint to the original Washington blue someday.

Drag'n 59, do you know if your car was ever in a barn at a salvage yard in Rosebud Tx? Their is a yard there that I use to frequent(10+ years ago) and there was a washington blue 5 window tucked in a barn full of engines that looked identical to yours(patina wise). It was still all stock and hood and grill were laying in the front seat. The guys that owned the yard always said it wasn't for sale.

What makes it low is a 4" Super bell drop axle, 2" drop posey spring. It has a .30 0ver 350/350 combo. Not sure what the story is on the original running gear. Still working on more back story.

It very well could be it. I know it is a Texas car, super solid. I am still working on getting more back story info on it. I do know a lady bought it new in '36 and drove it up until the early 70's. She named it the "Blue Echo". It has changed hands a few times times since the 70's. I really am looking forward to getting more info on the history. I will update when I find out from a previous owner. Hopefully soon!

Pardon the sky-high, nose-down stance, but the shipper just dropped the car off this morning:

It's my new '39 Deluxe Tudor, destined to become a 1940s mild-custom family truckster.

I did the blackwalls tires and skirts today, and grabbed the Lyon wheelcovers that I'd been saving out of the rafters. Stay tuned for updates including an altitude adjustment, and a tasteful shave job. Maybe a build thread if I get around to it...

In progress, paint on skirts and reversed eye spring over the next few weeks.

Some of the best all time customs on this thread.
Can you call a custom 40's period correct if it's running 50's caps?
