I am not sure where to go to find a how to for my light housing.
It is pitted and has many sharp bumps sticking up in the chrome.
These are sharp enough to get cut on if not very careful.
I plan to paint the ***embly when done, but need to know how
to best get the lumps and bumps off without wrecking the housing.
Any help pointing me to how I can smooth the housing will be
    greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, in advance.

I would try litely grinding with a sanding disc and then sandblast the ***embly to rough up for paint.

If you are painting not plating, most of the pits can be filled with glazing compound, finished and painted

I think your best bet is to have the existing chrome on the housing stripped (a chrome shop can do this) and then repair it like a piece of sheetmetal

Just keep in mind the parking light housings are pot metal. I had mine stripped and re-chromed.

How much did that cost? I've been looking at the repops and they seem a little pricey to me.

well its not cheap, at least for triple plated. I think I paid $175 each for the parking light and extension, triple plated at a reputable plating shop. it was worth it to me especially after I saw the process and labor that they put into doing it.

$175 each sounds like a great price, especially for pot metal.

Who did you use to do the plating?

I agree since the repops are around $600 a set. I too would like to know who did the work on yours. May send mine out.

I used Dans poloshing and chrome in adamsville tn. I only live an hour and a half from there so I drove it all out there. Took about 8 weeks or so for all of it, a few longer than I was told, but that didnt matter.

I believe I paid $450 front, $500 rear, and $175 for each parking light and extension. He said it was $500 for the grill to be triple plated, at the time, 4 years ago. I intend to build a stainless grill of some sort

Hmmm, that was 4 years ago, I wonder what his price would be today?
