There's a new forum on the net my friend started called King Daddy Cadillac. It's just like the HAMB but caters only to Cadillac lovers. Someone should have your part there.

I did find that thread in my search. I took it to my parts house and it crosses to a PSK1 which Rock Auto shows fitting 1960 and newer. And they don't list one for 56. I went ahead and ordered it so we'll see. thanks. And thanks for the link to the forum, I'll check that out.

    From the thread at ModifiedCadillac.com:
The catalog lists the 12392 kit contents as:
    1x 12355 Outer Seal
    1x 12371 Inner Seal
    2x 450692 Washer
    1x 450693 Retainer

    http://www.tristate-bearing.com/pdf/SKF/skf_seal_catalog.pdf
From this older SKF parts catalog, PDF page 306, left-hand side near the bottom:

Stock# Shaft Bore Width of Seal
    12392 1.250 1.752 .968

Give that seal number to any bearing supplier and they will fix you up.

Yeah, but I'm still not sure they are the RIGHT seals. It seems odd I spent an hour scrounging the internet to find those seals and they turn out to be the most common set ever. Seems like if they were that common, I would have found someone selling them to fit the 56.

Are you searching for it by the number on the seal or by application or GM part number? Just get the number off the seal itself and search eBay. If no luck, find a bearing supply.

The problem is, their web sites and catalogs only go back "X" years. As each new catalog is issued, they typically drop another year. I ran into this problem shopping for tires for my 55. Nobody lets you search by tire size/wheel size any more, they all want to know what Year, Make, and Model you drive, so they can tell you what fits. This falls completely apart when you want years they don't have in their web page code.

I'm searching for it by application and I'd really rather not dis***emble the box until I have the parts. I realize I could take it apart and measure them and go that route. I was just hoping there might have been someone on here who had done it and had a reliable source. In my search, I found some discussions that they might not be available and that they were different that 57 and newer.

Should be able to get a seal number without taking it apart. The number is on the outside.
