i am building a frame for my 34 ford pickup and i am trying to keep the wheel base to a min i was wondering how much space i need from firewall to radiator to mount a sbc i have a stock firewall now i think a sbc measures about 27" long i was looking at wb being around 112" thats with axle out in front of grill shell hanging spring from wishbones

  2. i use amock up motor or mesure the complete deal i am using with pullys ect and leave room between the fan and radiator my rpu from fire wall to radiator is 31 inches no fan using pusher mounted in grill

  4. yes, a sbc is about 27" from the back of the distributor to the front of a short water pump....then you have to allow for some firewall and radiator clearance

but you really need to get an engine for mock up...going by measurements just gets you into trouble

For mocking up the car, the steering, exhaust, fan, distributor, fuel pump, water pump, pulleys, trans, radiator, all need to be on the engine/car to keep from getting "surprises" when you go to bolt it together.
