Can someone provide the "stock" length of a 1953 Ford sedan driveshaft, center to center of the U joint circles, standard trans? Thanx Tom
According to the ch***is parts catalog the driveshaft is 59" long it doesn't tell where they measured it from. I have a spare in the attic of my garage. I'll try to measure it tomorrow.
I finnaly got an approximate measurement on the drive shaft. From circle to circle is 52 1/2 inches. The whole shaft from the end of the rear loop to the end of the front yoke is 59". This shaft come out of my 53 4dr 6cyl standard shift. I replaced it with a shaft from a 2dr about 35 years ago and it still gets me where I want to go. I hope this helps you out.
yoke to yoke i have 59" on the stock drive shaft out of mine. Mine is a merc and is a hardtop so i don't know it that is going to be different than a ford post
