Was at the 2015 Street Rod NATS and a fellow hot rodder gave me one of the best tips I've ever received. Use pure white vinegar to polish your aluminum and moisture tarnished br***!! Just wipe it on and buff it off - presto it removes water spots and is instantly shined. I would not have believed it if I hadn't witnessed him use on his tarnished blower. I have a bunch of polished aluminum on my 32 Stude and previously was an hour job - but the vinegar process has turned it into a 10 minute EASY job!! Try it and you too will be amazed. I can't help you with the smell!. Joe
I've always used Wenol or Happich Simichrome polish. As good as the vinegar might be as a polish, I'm not sure it offers any protection against corrosion and discoloration going forward. Just my thoughts for what they are worth.
that would have been good to know when I lived in an old house with a vintage br*** faucet in the bathroom. you polish it up and it lasts about 2 days. it was a secret to me.
SOLVOL AUTOSOL you can get it on ebay.excellent on aluminum, use sparingly on chrome ,will restore blued stainless and chrome.works on stainless br*** etc once you restore a shine use a milder polish
I didn't mean to imply it was a deep dark secret, when I was stationed at Fort Jackson it was something I had never heard of. Nope,I don't know everything but I've been around long enough to am*** a lot of useful and useless information. HRP
Once you get past the smell, you've got it licked... Funny we were talking about vinegar at work today as a bug repellant and weed killer.
Hey Doc, hope all is well with you...probably won't see ya until next April in Austin...I didn't make it this year due to a conflict....no new news on Mary...Kerry still has his lawsuit active....Joe
