It's the HOK blue over the silver base. Actually it's silver base, clear, silver base, blue, then clear. The silver base by itself mixed with the red plastic and made this craze champagne copper color, so I put the clear over it to seal it off.
Kirk!, Good to meet you at the NNL. Your T got my vote for Best of Show - I just dug its simplicity and the cleanliness of your building style. Tell Hemi that I'm sorry I took off without giving him the mag wheel - I'll bust the tire off of it and UPS it, I guess. Dave
Hi ! I'm building this modified with various parts and still hesitate between the 4 banger from '29 Pick Up "Rat Rod" or a Ford Flathead to "power" it. what 'd ya think ? Considering I still need a motor for the '29...
I think a cool little modified like that one needs a four banger. Just toss the overhead valve head on it it'll be perfect. Hey, how do you fellas like thes new Radirs on this one? I think it's a winner.
Yeah... the Radirs look good! As far as the 'banger goes, I'd also like to see it with the Riley Two-Port conversion from the Revell '30 Woody (the 1/25 one, not the Monogram 1/24 version)
The Radirs come out of the Revell-Monogram "Thunderbolt" Street Machine kit. I believe it also comes with a set of Keystones. If that kit isn't currently being produced, I'm betting there are still quite a few of them out there for sale. For Parts? If you want to build a slinky custom or a high-tech car, they might be worth something. The Chezoom has a WAY slammed ch***is/interior, which looks like it'd be really sweet under a '58 Impala. The Smoothster/Coupester/Vantastic kits are okay - the Coupester includes skirts, a trunk-mounted spare and a blower setup with shotgun-style scoop on dual quads that is worth finding one if it's not too expensive. I used coupester fenders to start this project:
Thanks fellows ! You consolidate my thoughts... Dave, the Radirs look great on this car... Anyhow it's awesome !
Heres a little side project of mine that I will be mostly scratchbuilding a 1/8th deuce around soon. I'm not totally happy with the profile of the bee hive, so dont be surprised if you see one up soon as a HAMB auction, I just need to finnish machining the acorn nuts for the top.
The 57 vette g***er is now being reissued in the amt/mpc original box art. I almost bought it at the Walmart I work at, but I have 2 different copies of that kit already.
Fidge - Those T-Bolt Raders are friggin' great I have a bunch of them stashed away. Look real good on that. My Hobby Lobby's ain't havin' the same sale right now. Chad - Damn nice beehive. Yer gonna make my pickemup look like doo doo. KIRK! - Thanks for the show pics they rocked. McGowan - Holy **** man you had some cool schtuff in that show. Stone & Purple - Not much left of the AMT '57 kit (not the g***er kit the street machine with the stock body), but that's where this one started. One of these days maybe I'll do up the graphics for it. http://public.fotki.com/Gluhead/gas_hopper/ Olson
Hey Kirk, I made them for my project, and couldnt possibly sell that at a reasonable price. I usualy make at least 2 of everything i start machining in case I make a bad cut on one, I still have another that hopefully makes it. Those 2 filters are 3 nights of work, from the initial drawings to the almost finished unit. I still need to make the acorn nuts for the top, and thats a bit of a setup as well, as it requires lining up a rotary table on the mill to do the facets on the nuts. I mean, they would cost more than the whole 1/8th scale kits sell for. I plan on media blasting the finned portion, and then polish just the tops of the fins giving the cast/polished look of the original. Once they are done, I'm gonna put one of them up as a HAMB auction. I do need a set of the whitewall tires (just the standard bias ply big and littles) from a big T kit, so maybe we can work out a trade if you are gonna have some extra parts.
Just this 1:1 example that a buddy has on consignment at his shop: More pics in my album: http://photobucket.com/albums/y167/gowjobs/Photos/Executioner/
