We bought this car from a fellow club member for the wife to drive on club tours. After this spring's tour she decided it's to big for her so it's time for it to find a new home. The club member I bought the car from told me he bought it from the original owner's estate. He advised me that the executor of the estate told him the displayed mileage is accurate and correct. The car is a '62 Chevy Biscayne 283 2bbl with the Powerglide transmission. It has <25,000 miles. It starts, runs & drives well. The transmission shifts crisply. I have converted the car to OEM power steering and I put a spin on oil filter conversion on it. The original parts will go with the car. I've replaced all of the belts & hoses. I had the front end aligned during which the tech told me the ball joints were starting to show a bit a play but didn't need replaced yet. Since the car was for my wife I had the ball joints replaced along with the pitman arm. The mechanic told me he'd never seen a car that old with the OEM front end that was that clean underneath. The previous owner had the brakes done & replaced the rubber lines. He also put a muffler & tailpipe on the car (sounds like a tractor muffler to me). He also replaced the battery and had the car tuned up. The car has a bit of blowby, normal for the miles displayed and considering it's not a PCV car. It has an oil leak, she marks her spot. I replaced the valve cover gaskets which slowed it but it didn't stop the leak. The car has a vibration that comes in about 60MPH. I've had the tires balanced (not road force) & had the drive line checked. The carrier bearing was showing a bit of play so I had it replaced. The mechanic said the U joints & differential bearing appear good. The vibration is still there. Maybe an out of round tire? If we were going to keep the car my next step would be a road force balance. The car has been repainted at some time. The rear bumper shows evidence of a light tap on the right rear that was repaired. Since that old lacquer doesn't age well it would be impossible to spot the repair in & make it look right so I'm ***uming that's why it was painted. The paint job is pretty good for a driver. It isn't a $20,000 show paint job. The car is 53 years old so some of the rubber gasketing is hard. If you have questions about specific parts of the car just ask. I'll answer all I can. Hagerty's pricing guide says the car is worth $6700 without taking the ownership history and low miles into account. https://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools/hvt/vehiclesearch/Report?vbe=114355 Here is a slideshow with a few pics of the car.
