Engine # V0417URP which I think is a 1981-1986 C10 engine. Gonna need lots of attention but then that's what I bought it for.

I saw that RPU on Craigslist a few weeks ago. It was only 3 hours away from me and it was real hard holding back from going to take a look at it. If I hadn't purchased my own 70's built time machine this summer, I would have been there. I hope it's a clean build. Are you gonna leave it as is, change it up, or take it back to the '75 Rod Action look?

Definitely has some cool elements, I really gotta wonder who stuck that crooked blue oval on the side like that though, and why.

Probably keep it as is for now, need to give my piggy bank a vacation so it can recover from all this. The little ford sticker is hiding some big door chip damage on the drivers door so they matched the other side where there is no damage, those will have to go. Bummer when I got it was the oil looked gray (like as in blown head gasket). But the trucker had it on an open trailer and ran into some rain and with only a screen for an air filter the hood scoop took in a lot of water and it drained down into the oil pan from the cyliners when he tried to start it while still on the trailer. New oil and filter installed. Overall it seems to be in good running condition. Can work on everything else as time goes by. I'll post a few more pics later on, your going to get a kick out of the shifter.

  12. Uh there is no such a thing ad a 29 Bucket T. The model A started in '28. The last T that is actually considered to be a bucket T would be a '25 ( maybe a '24) by '26 for sure the bucket look was gone from them.

I didn't say that to be mean but when you are out and about and call your A a T someone will be.

    Nice RPU anyway.

Yup, an A, Not a T. Neat enough little ride though. Could be fun with a little TLC and a few changes.

  15. :D :D Some things could get changed to be more tasteful to most of us but I don't think that its current condition would keep me from motoring at all. ;)

My mistake... it is not ***led as a t... it is also not ***led as an A. It's just ***led as 29 Ford, street modified. I'll go with the A guys on this (body style). Anyway I go I win if I can get the engine noise figured out without spending lots of money, kind of a high whining noise and sounds like it's coming from the air scoop.

Unfortunately I'm going to give the guy I bought it from on ebay bad feedback. He told me no rust on truck and the engine is covered in it. Headers will have to be replaced and more on front of engine. Didn't say anything about chip and other paint damage either, and not a word about the loud engine noise. Oh well there goes his perfect record on fleabay, mostly sells hats and tshirts, lawnmower parts.

maybe engine whine is a gear drive instead of a timing chain

Is the whine coming from the top of the engine, or timing cover area? How big is the cam? Any fine metallic in the oil?

  21. Or maybe it is just a damned vac leak. ;)

@Crazy Lazy you got a nice looking car at least from where we sit, but you have to remember you bought a used car. they all have problems and unless you bought one that has never been driven it is going to have a *character mark or two. Something that I learned from a person older then me when I was still in high school and I quote, "When you buy a used car you are just buying someone else's problems." Doesn't mean tat you can't give the guy bad feedback but you shouldn't let it discourage you just fix it and consider it a life's lesson.

Im just wondering if it has big springs in it, and the cam is walking back. Pretty common in SBC's.

  23. Yes it is but at least when they leave they come back. :D

great. buy a car without looking at it and leave negative feedback over rust on the motor? when a person says a car has no rust he is talking about the body. it's people like you that make selling on ebay a pain n the ***

Yeap... top of the engine. I have never heard that noise in a 350 engine before, almost sounds like trans noise but coming from the engine. I think it's just a standard cam.

I think if there's nothing major wrong with the engine I'll be happy with the car. I can fix purty much anything else just not set up to do major engine work. It would of been real easy for him to tell me the truth but he didn't. Maybe I'll do a video so people can hear that sound.

Just so everybody understands... I'm not mad about this. I did know it wasn't going to be perfect. I will get it back in shape again and I will keep it for a long time. I'm just glad it's no longer in terrorist hands and will no longer be tortured by those who are not safe with a pair of pliers in their hands.
