Hello everyone, just looking for some advice on a 302 swap, motor mounts, transmission mount, etc, any info would, thank you
I used 84 Mustang motor mounts and fabricated a new cradle for the 5 speed transmission. Check out my wagon build site, there are some photo's of the transmission cradle. HRP
I used 84 Mustang motor mounts and fabricated a new cradle for the 5 speed transmission. There is another piece that fits just below the shifter that is a U shape to clear the bottom of the shifter that ties the X member together.HRP
Fortunately, the wagon was a straight drive so I just adapted the '84 Mustang quadrant to the clutch pedal which was a simple task and I used the Mustang cable,,so no jack shafts,no slave clutches. This is a photo from the internet but it is the style I used This is the cable going through the firewall. another internet photo but it looks like mine. HRP
That is awesome hotrodprimer! So you used the original pedal ***embly under the dash! I like that much better than a slave cylinder etc. Looks like you have lots of room! Amazing clean underhood picture by the way, super clean
Yes,I pulled the Mustang clutch and brake ***embly and was going to use it but it just didn't look right,so I just removed the clutch quadrant and adapted it to the '54 clutch pedal. There is nothing wrong with slave cylinders but the cable although not pretty works like a champ and is easy to service should I ever need to replace it and was also easy to install. As for under the hood I got a little **** but I also kept it simple with paint and attention to detail..thanks for the compliment.HRP
That looks great. I'll be doing this soon with my car. Collecting parts for it now. I was able to find, with the help of a friend, an original clutch pedal ***embly from a manual car I'll switch out with my setup.
There are always guys looking for a Ford-O-Matic column and matching pedal setup when swapping from a stick to C4 or AOD,since you are going manual post the parts you have maybe a swap or sale can be worked out, maybe here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/auto-trans-steering-column.991871/
