Another great reliability run in the record books, thanks to Dave (RedBeard). Today's run was about 150 miles, mostly in western Sonoma County...the scenic route over to the coast, up Hwy 1 for a while, then dodging inland to see cattle country and redwoods, then back to the coast, stopping for lunch in Occidental, and ending up in Tomales at a tavern said to be the oldest one in Marin County. Like all the runs that Dave puts on, today's was fast-paced and scenic...lots of curves and switchbacks and mountain roads. I didn't get a nose count, but it looked like around 30 cars, all prewar except for a 49 Stude pickup that was our chase vehicle. Cool stuff!

I would encourage you to put one together. Its a great way to get a bunch of like minded hot rodders together and have a good time. It doesn't have to be complicated, get the map out and search out back roads, throw in a cool destination for lunch and end spot and get the word out. One way to simplify it would be to plan on ending it at the lunch stop, it seems like its a bit of a challenge to get everyone fed and then back on the road.....just my observation.

That was a great see/read!!!! I wish that I was there. I'm fortunate to have seen many of these cars in person as there isn't a non-looker in the bunch!!!!!! What a great day for a ride guys, I'd love to be able to make it up for that sometime. Tomales is a pretty cool destination-Red Beard=HOMERUN!!!!!!

Thanks Nobey, no rest for the weary, eh?
My bro had his 32 roadster, top pic on his first post above. After my road trip he's now thinking about one of those "reliable ford flaties" for it! lol.

And Jeff, great to meet you and see the 34...very cool, and great history! We'll go driving some, get it ready for next year!!

I'd still call it a LQQKer as it isn't a wreck or hasn't been messed with. Has cool paint/rust (just look over my T-ster in my avatar which is from Santa Rosa). Good hauler as well. Congrats on your ride to Tamales.

    J. Allen Hawkins was one of my more important photography mentors through the 1970's. This car started life as a four-banger Model B.
Al was the semi-official photographer for the City of Pasadena and many of the area's businesses.
He was the biggest railroad buff I'd evr known. Inside his house was train photos that was so extensive he even had train photos on the ceilings.
His yard was full of train items, a steam engine headlamp was on top of his garage and a locomotive bell was his "doorbell".
He was quite a character. He had more jokes than anyone else I knew and none were G-rated.
Al died in 1986 and my life was a little less fun and a whole lot less amusing after his death.
He and his wife, Pat, were just great fun with the greatest stories, ever....and they were all true.

Great to meet you too, Johnny. That RPU of yours is awesome! I'll be terrorizing the streets and back roads of Petaluma soon, and am looking forward to next year's run, as well as anything in between.

Mazooma1, thanks for sharing u'r experience with JA Hawkins and this car with us. Gus, the new owner, knows and respects it's history and is a great steward of it. He drives it a lot. He doesn't go on the board very often but I'll make sure he sees this...he'll be very interested.
    Thanks again for sharing!
    Another pic for you.
