air filter chart??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by scotty t, Jan 8, 2010.

  1. i've been searching for an air filter chart. something that lists them by size not application. i've searched here and googled it. all i can find are factory sites that list by application. this is something can could be handy for HAMBERS converting old aircleaners or making custom pieces.
    thanks,

Not exactly what you want... but when I needed a filter for my truck I called K&N. I told them the inlet size for the throttle body and then they asked me about the engine (size, cam, power adders, etc). Then the guy calcs the CFM required and cross references that flow rate with what they have in my inlet size. Perfect. And free shipping if you order on line after getting the part nr. I suspect other mfgs do this, eh? Gary

Check out K&N's website they list sizes. Its the only place I found when I was looking for a certain size filter.

I have an older Wix filter catalog that lists them by size. If you post what you need, maybe I or someone else could look it up.

If you have a real parts store(napa, carquest, auto value etc.) in your town, go in and ask them for an old filter catalogue. Around here the autozones, advance autos etc do not have any catalogs they are computer only. Usually the parts stores hang one to some of the old ones...but you more than likely will be able to get something from them.

I think you can find the info in the back of most filter catalogs. probably not online though.

If you are looking for a 14 inch filter the Fram ca163 fits the best I have found.

i have a K&N air filter I put in a 50's Caddy original housing. I need another one, but do not have part number and size not on their online catalog. bought it about 3 years ago. 13" OD 11 18" ID 4 " H. any part numbers for this?

  10. Old paper catalogs are a dying thing but are worth their weight in gold. I recently needed some rear shocks for an OT car I'm working on but I needed them to be 4" longer than stock. Pulled out my trusty Monroe catalog and went to the back section where shocks are listed by attatchment style & length and found a stock shock for another vehicle that fit my needs perfectly.

I know this is an old thread, but I just ran across a pdf file from Fram that lists applications in section 1 and dimensions (ID, OD, and height) in section 2. It's dated 2012, but that shouldn't hurt any of us...

I kept all the old books that the parts guys gave me back in the day! Used to get calls from them because they threw all theirs away! Not so much any more, most of the parts guys don’t even know me! And I used to spend $40/ $50 a month there! So much for loyalty! If any you guys need help just let me know!

Did I show you my bar tender tonite? A4714CE7-6618-4860-A5EB-7C9A235CD268.jpeg

Not sure what this has to do with the thread, but who cares. Nice bumpers!
