Event Coverage Ocean Park 2015

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by falcongeorge, Sep 12, 2015.

  1. Thanks. I don't like the spot lights either. They don't fit right on the Chevys. I have a few little changes planned for next year.
Nice pics too. I saw you from across the show but you were gone when I got closer. (That sounds more like a personals posting on craigslist)

My $%&# camera battery was dying, and I was trying to get as much stuff shot as I could before it croaked, so I was really hurrying. Sorry I missed you.

  4. Great pics. Thanks for posting. Always a quality show/get together. Had to work and missed it. Damn.

I think its the best show in the lower mainland. But I really miss the old tri-5 club picnic.

I agree, great Car Show, some stunning 49-51 Fords were there. The Black 49 with Red interior was Superb! Too many nice Cars to choose from, and a great day weather wise as well.

I'm always surprised by the number of '39/'40s at that show. Theres a ton of those cars around here. Last year there were 4 '40 converts.

  9. I find it amazing that there are so many 46-7-8 Ford Convertibles around. There were several at the show and I know of a couple more that weren't there. It's also the only local show where my car is on of the newer models.

George........that's a great pic for your desktop as it's another Cam Grant ride & is a beauty.......also Thx for the kind words on my 39......FYI my 3 adult children came up with the idea of taking 4 cars to Ford's deal, which means the 65 Impala wagon and Turquoise 57 BelAir hardtop were mine as well, all parked in front of Fuzzy's roadster......

Holy ****! I take it your Bel Air is the one that Fuzzy was talking about picking up in the states a couple years ago? A friend of mine built one so close to your car, when I first saw it, I thought it was his old car. I really love your '39 fordor, really nice! I was hoping we'd run into each other, sorry I missed you.

I was trying to meet whoever owned the '39, I REALLY wanted to talk to him, but I never saw anyone around the car that looked like they owned it, they were all looking it over like I was. Figures its Cams he is usually parked right around there, and the car was NICE. Whats in it for a motor, SBC?
Do you know who owns the red one with the chop?

I was really digging that car too. Honestly, theres a couple cars I shot that I shot because I knew I was posting this on the HAMB, and I knew there were other guys that would like them.
That black '36 roadster really got me, and so did BCHRA guys fordor. I think the '36 was one of the guys that drove up with Fuzzy?? Not sure. I also really liked that O/T red El-Camino.

I too, am in love with that '37 Phaeton. Wow. Looks like a great show, I have enough relatives out there to justify coming out for it at some point. Thanks for posting.

If you do, you should hook up with pensive scribe, I know he wants to come, almost did this year. You guys could split gas/driving.

Great seeing you George. I didn't last very long, as it was my first outing, since getting the cast off a broken ankle, that sidelined me for 10 weeks.

Nice stuff. I always say the PNW ( well ok and Western Canada!) have the nicest vehicles.
    Awesome quality!

Theres always been a REALLY big car scene here, especially around the middle of the fraser valley, back in the day it was easy for a younger guy to make a good living between the lumber industry and the fishing industry we always had access to relatively easy money, the summers are nice, and I think Mission raceway had a big effect. When I was a young guy, there was always this sense of looking up to the California scene as well, and I think that put a lot of pressure on guys to build nice cars. The same factors hold across the line in Washington state, and theres a history of building really nice cars there too. Theres no real "rat rod" scene here, it never really caught on in this area.

  26. Wow!
The quality of the vehicles (especially traditionally styled) is phenomenal at this show!
Thanks for posting for those who couldn't attend!

  27. I remember that green '34 Fordor from the Canadian Street Rod Nationals back in the mid or late 70's (74 or 77) in Winnipeg. Great guy who knew how to have fun!

If this is the case that it was the last year it is terribly sad to see.
Great show, beautiful cars, and a great atmosphere.

It was YOURS! I saw Keith talking to you, and I was thinking about coming over and sticking my big fat face in, but I was really worried my camera was going to give up the ghost, so I was trying to shoot as many pics as I could as quick as I could. I really should have come over and said hi.
If Ron is not doing the show again, that's devastating news. First the Tri-five club picnic, now Ocean Park?? Man, I REALLY hope that is not true! And why in the hell did they move the Langley show up a week? Does that have something to do with Rons decision?
