Danny, it was a nice gesture for both of you with him wanting you to have it and you getting it. I would take any opportunity I could to get him out in it or visit him with it. As for changes remove some of the obvious billet jewelry but keep it simple. Let the wife drive it too !

  3. I would love to sneak up on a nice street rod like that.

A more cl***ic steering wheel and some chrome interior door handles and cranks would tone it down enough where I could live with it.

Nothing wrong with that car, it's 1000% better than anything that has been sold new in the last 40 years! At least it's hot rod RED, and not pastel peach! I would drive it proudly! Nothing wrong with being comfortable, either. Everybody has their own vision of how a car should be done, and while it might not fit everybody else's vision, it was somebodies vision at some point. It's not overdone, subtle enough to look at home most anywhere. I know your friend hated to see it go, but was glad he knew it went to a good home. Best of luck to him and to you.

If you decide to use the red sedan as a step'n stone to a Henry roadster; I'll be as happy for you as I would be jealous.
And about the red car for your wife; it's good my wife doesn't visit HAMBLAND.

Danny would it not be a hoot to make both your sedan and the new one very similar so you could drive one of them to one show then drive the other one to the next show and tell them you just painted it!!

  10. Danny, you did well, for a good cause.

You guys are going to keep talking **** about "streetrods" until you end up on Ryan's personal **** list. I know; I have been there a while. P.S. You can send that beater down the road for 7 or 8 grand and really be set up. Kinda kidding, HRP(SRP).

Now make that thing respectable looking and drive it like you stole it!

All kidding aside, GOD bless your friend, I pray he gets to the point where he still has some good quality of life.

I know I originally said I wasn't going to change anything but I ran across a couple of chrome hinge mounted mirrors in my parts stash and I am going to remove the peeling painted billet mirrors that are on the car now and add these,a small change but a vast improvement IMPO.,plus this one doesn't cost anything.HRP

    Purplepickup? I forget his name?[/QUOTE]

Tman, Your memory is very good. He is purplepickup. (George) The truck is well built, but a style that was popular about 25 years ago. Which brings up a point, should you change it into something that is popular today or restore it to the time it was built? If all the traditional hot rods were changed into something that was popular as trends changed, what would be left of the original hot rods today?

Hot rod trends are cyclic. Keep the sedan the way it is and some day it may be "cool" again. Glad to see John got George's ["purple pickup" here on the HAMB] truck. It's a cool little chevy truck. George had it out at Bonneville a few years back...Wish I'd known it was for sale.

  29. So, I showed my son the pics in this thread. ( He's 12 ) He said "That's cooool!" Then he added "But, it's not the kind of car that is normally on that site."
The trained eye of a 12 yr. old pointed out "The windows on the cars on the hamb aren't normally dark like that. The license plate looks weird. ( I ***ume the frenching, not the message. ) The wheels too... needs different wheels."
HRP? I'm ***uming if you can fix a couple issues, my son will approve. Hopefully Evans approval will mean something to you. ;)

You know kids have a critical eye and he brought up something I never relay noticed, the gl*** does indeed have a darker tint, typical of the style when the car was built. HRP
