Where do I find engine cover hold down straps? I have a Model A Roadster with a top engine cover and would like to secure it with straps. I have seen these cover straps on other cars. They appear to be a manufactured item, not something custom made. Any help appreciated.

I have found the stainless square cleats at a boat supply place and had a leather guy make the straps and sew the ennds on ,no pics though.that way you can choose your width and color.

I don't know if there are any Amish near you there, but we have quite a few around here. I had a set made up by an Amish gentleman who makes and repairs harnesses for teams of horses. The fancy buckle is known as a "collar buckle" and I think I bought a set of 4 for around 15 or 20 bucks. The guy cut the leather and sewed it up for about another 30 bucks. He used a gas powered sewing machine, I **** you not! The "footman loops" are available as well, I think I bought mine at a swapmeet. So $60 or so, and they are the first thing people complement on the truck almost every time.

20141012_134720.jpg Make 'em yourself. I picked up some belts from Dollar General, the springs from Restoration Supply...cut the belts to the correct size and riveted the pieces together. I'll still run the hood sides, so I keep the hood latches.

Hey Tim, I just got a new computer, and don't have any pictures of my old truck on it yet. But I have a few on my phone. If you can accept a text, pm me your number and I'll text a couple to you. My phone has a 10 MP camera, and I can't send it's pictures via e-mail or to the HAMB.

Thanks to all who provided leads for the hood cover straps. I was on vacation and just returned. Volunteered for and attended the Santa Fe Concorso. One Boyd Coddington car on display, the 1992 Aluma Coupe. Very nice.

Apparently that is not an option with my droid ultra, at least that is what my search brought to light. The pictures can be re-sized, but for less than very, very important reasons that is too much bother. My other camera has a "computer setting" and eventually the old truck will make it back out in the light of day. Then I'll shoot a few with that unit.
