My first tech on my own still playing with valves/timing, but it runs. http://tri5chevy.proboards19.com/index.cgi?board=enginemods&action=display&thread=1138663341
You guys posting this wealth of info on Small ci sbc are my saviours. I have a 283 that needs to be built to go in my daily driver. Everyone tells me to do the 350 thing.
I ran into the same thing. This use to be my daily driver. I got the 265 for free and sold my other one. All of this started, because I blew a head gasket, hahhahaha.
My daily driver is to new to talk about here. But its the 1st thing I bought and paid for my self so I don't want to give it up. Plus I will more than likely move the V8 over to a traditioanl rod when I find one.
I like the little motors too. Especially the 307s They got a bad rep because they got big, open chamber heads and never made any compression. Pop on a set of HO 305 heads, and they will run with the best of em. The 350s are cheaper to build, but everybody and their dog runs a 350.
