Hey Jivin Jer, remember that the HAMB is for '65 and earlier, and we've been granted special permission to go to '68 for this thread. '70s shots aren't bueno, and '80s are, as Monty Python would say, right out.

Composite of the Raker's Car Club's early entry, a '36 sedan, looks like Pomona, but it could be the Lion's pits...they followed this sedan with a Fiat-bodied competition coupe with a blown Chrysler, and later a fuel dragster. Bruce Woodcock, who drove the dragster, died in a crash in in at San Gabriel in 1962. I saw the crash, not something anyone wants to see...


Bayer & Frietas, twin Chevy gas burner...Hayden Proffitt sometimes drove for them...this looks like Fontana.

Before there were push trucks...very early Santa Ana...looks like helmets were optional.

Help me out guys! OLD GUYS!
Who made the combination magneto / fuel pumps in the early 60's?
SWC used one on their Olds, several dragsters used 'em as well.
Anybody have a picture?

 

I only know about the off-set drive, riser between the mag and the block, that drove the fuel pump. This one is probably a Hilborn unit.

After we got tired of throwing belts off, we went to the Hilborn mag/pump drive. The ball peen hammer dents to clear it are still in the firewall!

 

That was a pretty common pump drive a long time ago. When people were using the BL pumps. I don't know if it would be good to put a PG pump on one of those.

Dean, What RPM's were you turning back then ? I am considering using a 1" Gilmer drive on a 355" Chevy in a Vintage Supermodified, with a - 0 Hilborn 150 pump, and a 7,000 RPM limit.
