A few years back I was standing outside a bar one night on a gig break, getting some fresh air and I heard two guys talking. One guy had apparently just told his buddy that he was getting married. His buddy said "Why don't you just find a woman you hate and buy her a house?"
I remember helping a friend disassemble his chevy II and hiding pieces of it in different locations when he knew a divorce was imminent. Funny he also had a VERY cherry factory 4 speed '64 Buick Skylark that she got. We couldn't really figure it out, she couldn't drive a stick. About a month later, I saw the car with another guy driving it, and she was riding shotgun. Guess she wanted it for "bait"...
at least you got it back. probably 25 years ago a friend was telling me the story of a friend of his and a 60's thunderbird show car. a total show winning custom car that the guy had for years and years... like from the 60's. his wife took a hammer to it and pounded every body panel. in the end he stayed with her, I don't know what happened to the car.
Like a friend of mine said after a wedding to the new groom, "congratulations, you just gave away half your shit".
i was playing poker with a guy who's fiancee kept calling, she was bitchi'n about this and complaining about that. "when are you coming home". "who's with you?" "blah, blah, blah" i asked him "if it is bad now, do you really think it is going to get better?" he dumped her and thanks me every time i see him.
Like an episode of "Cheers :" I will never forget... Norm comes in the bar says hi to everybody, sits down and says to Sam (Ted Danson), "Women, can't live with them?,... Give me a beer!"
Excellent!! Goes from stolen car to woman bashing!! Guess you guys can always find a dude with the same interests!!(I,ll keep my wife!!) Pete
49ratfink..True story on the T Bird, I know Rich and he did rebuild the car I think he still owns it today he is a damn good body man.
Glad you got it back but jeez. Bunch of bitter men in here. I love my wife and wouldn't trade her for anything.
ditto. And mine doesn't even LIKE hot rods! But she likes/loves me (no small feat) and shes the mother of my child, the hot rod hasn't been built that can trump that.
Probably like many readers on this thread, I keep wondering how the transactions could have occurred without having titles to transfer. Did the ex have the title in her possession? Was said title in her name? If no title was exchanged during the first "sale" how did that buyer hope to sell a whole car? I had an ex sign my name to a check made out to both of us years ago.....she didn't get away with it.
Jk, Lets us know how this turns out. If You need an Attorney, I hope You Can find an Attorney - that's a Car Guy. * He may offer his services for Free. I have a feeling You will get it back in due time. I wonder what else She has Sold You are unaware of.
he must keep it locked up and never take it out. I either saw it at his house or Steve A. showed me a photo. I don't think I have never seen it at a show unless it was back in the 70's.
I heard from a very good source Saturday that the 2nd buyer got his $'s back from 1st buyer and he is SO L> I'm guessin so is the X wife once the cops get dun with her. Glad it was recovered and back to the proper owner.
I ain't saying OJ should'a kilt her...but I understand. I don't think any nice women are being bashed here. It's the other kind.
Glad to hear you got it back. Along those same lines, I bought a matching numbers 69 Mach 1 from a scrap yard, for $50 more than scrap weight, totally complete car in parts. Buddy that worked there tipped me off. Owner had the car bead blasted same time he was getting divorced, wife pushed it out in the snow in the backyard in bare metal, he didn't find out until spring. It was pitted pretty bad all over, I parted it out in the early 90's, now days it would been worth having dipped.
This is why I don't buy cars without titles unless I don't care if I have it taken away from me. If you don't have the title, you just don't really own the car.
you have a point there 57 Joe. I don't know what the selling price was and don't care but I'd guess that it was extremely attractive to the "flipper" title or no and he didn't take time to investigate a bit further. Now it's his lawsuit for theft though. If you are going to buy something without a title you had better have helped the seller haul home the pieces, know where it and the pieces came from or get a big stack of receipts to go along with it these days.
