COE finally own a COE need help 52 ford coe

I recently purchased a 1952 ford coe f6. The front end is in good shape but the cab could use some work especially around the from window (basically rusted away) so I had read that all the 51-52 ford trucks had the same cab? I was wondering if this would be the same for the coe minus the doors and lower half of the cab? What I would like to do is find an 1952 ford cab and take the top half off a donor cab and use on my cab or just use the windshield area. Does anyone know if the cabs 51-51 f1-f9 are in fact the same/ similar.

 

check if replacement rubber for windshield is the same. bet they are...

 

should be the same...
the 53-56 are universal within themselves, barring the '56 wraparound gl***, *edit* and all that affects, roof panel (etc...)

Yes, they are the same, the major differences are the wheel arch areas and the firewall.

 

A buddy if mine has a international uhual with the 7.3 diesel that I can purchase at a good deal. It still has the aluminum box on the back. I was wondering if anyone has used this ch***is and drive train preciously for a coe project and if it would even work?

 

I'm using an IH ch***is, very similar to the U-Haul trucks, but mine was set up as a cab forward fire truck. The major difference is the steering box input on mine pointed straight up. Having straight frame rails means you won't be able to get as low as a pick-up or van ch***is will get you. They are also sprung heavier, so not as comfortable to ride in. I replaced the whole suspension with my own air ride system. I don't think I would buy a big truck for a donor, but it had the engine I wanted, (2 cycle Detroit) and I got it for free after selling all the bits and pieces for salvage.

 

Thanks I am also eyeing a 1990 d250 with a ***mins.

 

Biggest challenge for me was making the steering work. Personally, I'd have that question pretty close to the top of the list for ch***is selection.
