got a older friend with some cash, wantin to build on a 29 roadster, he has money, but not tons, and doesnt wanna mess with a old body (too old for taht as he says) myself, i like the old stuff and working on it, but i cant convince him its worth it... whats best place to buy brookville stuff price wise? and how much is he lookin at? i never even priced these! ahahhahha
When I purchased one, I ordered it directly from Brookville. Went and picked it up at their location. The problem is that your buddy will more than likely have to wait for 6months at least for the order to be completed. Try a Model A distributer like Snyder's as they will probalbly have one in stock and only ding him a couple extra hundred bucks. It was the only 'New' car I ever bought, and ended up trading it away
price? hes more interested in price.. funny thing with hot rods is you only need a couple grand worth of parts then you need a body, LLOLL...
You're not kidding on the parts vs. body. I'm also looking for a Model A roadster body. I think Brookville is asking $5500 for the roadster with minimal "options".
This should answer your questions... http://www.brookville-roadster.com/rod/index.html They are near Dayton, Ohio...if you care to pick your order up there. I'm using one of their Model A frames...you can't beat them for price and quality, I tried getting a Model A frame built elsewhere, but nobody can match their price and quality...and most don't want to build one-off frames. Brookville is the answer for the quality-conscious home builder in my book!
[ wow , their prices sure have gone up. i bought my first brookville body in 1986...$3400 for a `30 raoster body then , now i see it's $5900 i got it through snyder's..it was a little cheaper and a lot faster
WOW is right, I would sell my 29 roadster for that price, well it's not a brookville just a Henry Ford..But it's got a ch***ie, full top and interior, fenders, windsheild and posts, gastank.. Oh yea and a body
Actually, it's roughly the same price in real dollars. According to the inflation calculator, $3400 in 1986 is equivalent to $6058.58 today... Interesting site. If you input the price of a new car from the good ole days, you'll see that most cars have gotten more expensive... For example, a 1956 Cadillac Sedan DeVille had an MSRP of $4753, which translates to $34,127.24 in today's dollars. I haven't seen a deville that cheap in 10 years. http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl
A lot of that price increase has been due to the demand for sheet steel around the world. And lately, the last two years or so, the price of steel has really shot up. Thank the demand in China for most of that. Also thank the environmentalists in our country for not allowing new steel plants or refineries. Basic economics, hold supply constant, increase demand, thus price increases. Consider the inflation mentioned by wannabewannabe. He shows the price by inflation alone to be right in line. Factor in the increased price of steel and this shows the productivity increase by Brookville. Not too shabby on their part. To avoid the delay of the waiting list, consider going to one of the dealers. So-Cal Speed Shop Arizona has one in their yard. It might be worth the trip to Arizona. Vacation in warm, sunny Phoenix, avoid the snow and cold in Wisconsin and pick up a new Brookville '29 roadster body.
you might want to call carl if you have his number he and his bro both have brookville bodies, His brother just got his last year, I know he picked it up and the factory was pretty cool!
By the time you add the cowl cover and various bits, the body is near $7k, and that's not including a windshield and other necessities. As for ch***is, I'm not big on buying stuff from SoCal, but they make a very nice '32 ch***is that's already set up from the '28 - '29 model A body. It'll save you a bunch of work and the cost is not much more than what everyone else charges for theirs (I'm ***uming you don't have a frame table to build your own). As for the Brookville ch***is, those are all four-bar setups, which I personally would never put on a traditional car.
DO you want to pick the body up at the factory or do you want it shipped? REO comapny in Tulsa can get you one in 30-60 days (possibly). Directly from brookville. A 28-29 body will run you $5800 at yoru door shipped for model a frame rails, and a hundred dollars more if it goes on a 32 frame. Ron is who you want to talk to and would be glad to help your friend out. I have already talked to him about it and he awaits your call. Be sure and tell him that I had you call him. Just as an FYI he has a fibergl*** '32 harwood version body sitting in his front room ready to go for 5k if your friend might be interested in that instead. He also has 2 sets of 32 american stamping frame rails and boxing plates. Also grill shells firewalls etc. Most of this stuff will take you time to get from brookville but he has it in stock ready to ship. He is an authorized brookville dealer so all this stuff (32 body excluded) is real brookville. He can be reached at 918-437-1700.
I'm VERY happy with my Brookville. I was watching it on eBay and it didn't sell. I sent the guy an offer and he accepted. I had BenD bring it to me from El Paso, TX. The body was "used" but had never been finished...still in the red oxide primer. I was at the point, that EVERYTHING I looked at was absolute JUNK! And, they wanted almost as much as Brookville did for their body....no joke..... By the time I would have bought patch panels and misc. parts, I would have had more in a real Henry than Brookville- at least from the prices I was finding. There's a fella I met that lives within an hour of the plant and he deals with them all the time...claims he knows the owner. He was going to get me a knocked down one for a reasonable price (don't recall now) and get me some seconds on some of the parts. I could put you in contact with him if you PM me. I have an automatic search for Brookville on ebay and I haven't seen just the body come up since I bought mine a year ago. I don't think I've ever shared what I got mine for on here.......guess it doesn't matter, I'm not looking to sell it. -new seat cushions for rumble and front -chrome winshield -standard winshield posts -billet mirrors (rough 'em up with sand paper) -battery box -5" recessed firewall that I sold and bought a stock one -stock gas tank -metal floor pan -39 tail lights -wood shim kit -32 style dash -trunk handle but no other handles -chrome rumble seat handles -some other odds and ends I can't think of -body $5000 + $550 for BenD to get it here + extra 100 to BenD because I held him up for a few extra hours so, I have $5650 in mine deliverd to my door......I basically saved taxes and got all the goodies for free.... You guys are right, I don't have peanuts in my frame, etc.....but that body killed me! here's a pic of it the night BenD dropped it off....... I looked at it and though, "What have I gotten myself into?"
I know he wants a model a roadster but... I totally like Rod bods.. he's local to me and builds a good quality body my .02
Hatch, I have always liked your roadster, it just looks right. What year did you build it, I have been losing track of time but it seams like it was at least 10 years ago, am I even close? chuck
You can buy their frames without ch***is brackets and do your own thing if you want. The rear is set up for coil-overs, though...but I'm using ladder bars in place of the four bars, with hairpins up front. I contacted a few people about building frames, and you can't get anyone to do them for what the Brookville frame costs, if at all. Just order the perimeter frame minus the four bar brackets, Vega box mount, motor and trans mounts and put on what you want to run. Add a buggy spring rear crossmember if you wish...you're still further ahead.
