Thanks for the coverage Mr Joker. I was there too on Saturday and I think you captured every participating car - that's good and bad. I can't help but wonder why this event doesn't attract more participants?
A few years ago the car show was overflowing, there were lots of old race cars and some cool hot rods and customs in the spectator parking. This year there was probably 30-40 cars in the show and you caught all the interesting race participants in your photos. The spectator parking looked like the mall parking lot at Christmas time. Lots of cars but no hot rods.
Where are all the hot rods, crazy g***ers and stuff that show up at the Eagle Field events? You would think they would be glad to have another place to run in between E.F events. This is an unusual opportunity to actually make a p*** in your car in stead of just sitting in a lawn chair under an easy-up. Is there a problem with the promoters? Is tech too tough (find that hard to believe looking at some "racers")
I was lucky enough to get to a few "nostalgia" races at Inyokern before they shut down - they were great. We try not to miss Eagle Field each year and they get better and better. What's happening with Kingdon? Any comments??

I have to plead guilty this year; we drove the family truckster (Toyota van). In the past, I brought my chopped Model A Tudor but it went to a new home this summer and it's replacement, a '48 Austin ex-g***er, is apart getting a ch***is "tune-up" . Maybe next year.

 

Kingdon in the old days was just packed with hot rods...I used to go with Chic Cannon, who ran an Olds powered '29 roadster. ('56-'57)
With its resurrection, I was surprised at the difference between it and Eagle Field, which is the "Main Attraction"! With Hayward/San Leandro so close, the old hotbed of hot rods seems cool now.

Eagle Field is a Godsend, thanks to Rocky and Co. Truth be told, I never thought that could happen again.

 

SmokinBill, Thanks for pics. bchctybob, only reasons I can think of is the lack of promotion/spreading the word about when this event happens, do not even have any signage to find the place from the freeway, racing going on at Sacramento Raceway & Redding this weekend too, Central Valley guys have a long ride to get to Lodi, air strip surface lacks in getting good traction - heard that from racers, not enough pretty girls, no true main attraction, etc. Don't know why I have such trouble posting pics - sometimes works, sometimes not. just now had to go to edit in above posts to squeeze a few more pics that would not post in this reply...

You may be right about the event not being promoted well enough. And the track is lacking in traction, but then Eagle Field isn't exactly traction city either but it's still a blast.
Back east they've got the melt down drags and a few other incredible events, seems strange that we don't help make Kingdon a "must attend" here in the middle of Ca. I don't buy the "long drive" thing. Anyone who races in California is no stranger to driving these days. But I'm totally in with the "more pretty girls" thing.........ALWAYS a good attraction. Bring on the Back Up Girls!

Bring back Bob Kress, rip, he would get some cars there. I didn't see any flyers on this event and I make a lot of events in this area, not much in promotion..
