Hot Rods I finally got back to making some progress on my Model A

    I stilll wasnt super happy with the wishbone mount it was too low KIMG1103.JPG so i redid it yet again...now i am happy with it.

    I picked up a pair of comercial headlight for it at carlise.

    I also bought a weiand dual carb intake that doesnt need an offset bracket. It shoukd match the heads i have nicely KIMG1112.JPG KIMG1116.JPG KIMG1114.JPG

    Now that winter is over, progess is being made again. Allison has helped finish the brakes (she wasn't to fond of double flairing so I had to do that part alone). The coupe now steers and stops. Plus it now has front shocks and links installed. Next i gotta get some radiator hoses, fuel line and linkage made and we can move it around the driveway under its own power.

    I have been messing with it in my free time. It is now getting close to running and driving, I still gotta make headers, put on the dual carb intake, wire it and run fuel lines. 20160509_071626.jpg

    Still got a lot to do but I drove it around the driveway today with am improvised gas tank.

    Tonight I got the fuel lines all made and hooked up and it is now running from its own gas tank. I also wired up the generator and regulator so it charges now.

    It is running pretty well....but unfortunatly has a good bit of blowby out the draft tube so I will most likely have to rebuild the engine and hop it up prior to it seeing much road use.

    Here is a pic of it running at idle...... no more smoke....I rigged up a pcv system since my compression readings were pretty decent..... it should mask the issuse till the rings get ungummed up (fingers crossed) or till I rebuild the flathead.

    I got a lot more done on the car and actually took it for a test drive. Still a lot to do but is is useable as a car for the first time in a long time!!

    I've busted a few things over the years but all in all has been pretty reliable for the amount of miles it sees and hard use it gets.

    Oh and our kiddoe that helped build it is now 12 and not so little anymore. She decided she wants to build a 48 ford truck for her first car now... so this year I will be helping her tackle it.

    Our littlest one is 8 and has been helping a lot as well and also has a lot of interest in cars as well.
