Just like it says, who's running one. How did you set yours up, and how well does it work for you.Pic's,finished or during build-up, of any Model A's with them would be a help as well. Thanks for the help, now let's see them.......
Wow!!! Lots of Q/C's out there.... Anyone ever set one up before? How about any extra parts laying around. Advice? Anything?
Early V-8 Halibrand converted to 28 spline late Ford axles, end gears and bearings, per an article in R&C quarterly. 31 roadster on 32 frame. Worked great for 10+years, so far.
Easy there sparky.... it's Friday night and people have lives.... Yeah lots of people have QC's.. I've got one in/for my roadster... Flamedabone runs them... lots of people.... now be patient and maybe someone will answer...
I havent figured the set up yet but i have a Newer Winters Solid tube axle, no Differential, sprint car type i'm gunna have in my Salt/Strip 30 plymouth, Trying my best to grenade behind my 331 hemi
What would you like to know about them? Generally they are conversions for the V8 type rear end 35-48 with the 6 spline set up versus the earlier 33-34 10spline set up. I ran one in my A-Chassied T-Roadser for a few years until I took it out for miking. That's how we do the current version right off that rear end. I have one in a 32 Chassis-no problems yet, I run all of the period type stuff just like they did in the 40's What kind of parts are you looking for???? There were probably 25 different quickchange mfg's around, You generally only hear about the ol guys in the Hot Rod ranks, but there are many options available to one if they know just what they'd want. Good luck in your search
Here's mine..it's the big ass Franklin sprint car style. I LOVE mine. There are some pretty good threads about quickies if you do a search. LOTS of stuff to know about running em on the street. -Abone.
I'm running a Champ in my 29 A Sedan that Halibrand set up originally then it fell apart when they forgot to locktite the ring gear hub bolts. Since then i rebuilt it myself and seems to work fine.
got a winters grand national under my 32 roadster,it has a diamond track dif. with a 4.11 ring and pinion,31 spline, and 3.55 gears in the back cover. it is hung under the car with a triangulated 4 bar setup, with coil overs.on my next project it will have a buggy spring and ladder bars,it just looks more trad. mine has 87,000 miles on it since it was new, with NO problems at all. -danny
I've got the same setup with the full floater rifle drilled axles, Detroit Locker, JFZ disk brakes, 7 different gearsets (14 different gear changes) titanium nuts with only 2 hours running time on it for $750. Biggest problem for me is the width requires 5 on 5 wheels with a lot of negative offset...!!! Other than that I've run them on cars for almost 100,000 miles without a single problem.
That looks like what I'm looking for. I've got a champ style as well, I've removed the in/out set up fromit, and now I'm trying to get the forty Ford tubes hooked up correctly. I've got all the spacer/adapter plates, and the center section, the axle tubes and backing plates. I'm looking for the gear set and carrier for it. Anyone got a spare set, or a supplier for them, I would like to keep the forty Ford axles and tubes with it. Are they any harder to put together then other style diffs?
I nave done several chassis with the Winters V8 rear that were setup by Winters along with a few champs and to date none have came back to haunt me. Winters is a good company
I have a big ass frankland with the 8 lug axles. I want to change to 5 lug when a figure it out.I am going to run it in my 27. TP
Drhotrod...Maybe I'll try one of your Q/C nerf bars... Some douchebag, looking for his dropped cigarette, found the back end of my hot rod... Pistnbroke..the best advise I can offer is get a nice locking differential and have someone who knows what the hell they are doing set it up. Holler if you need anything. I learned alot doing mine. -Abone.
Wow thats bad someone hit you like that. I just made the nerf bar cause i thought it dressed the rearend up. I hope i never have to try it out...lol
If it were my car in the pic, the guy would look worse. That really sucks!! Hope it comes out okay for you. Is anyone here running adapter plates and fourty Ford tubes and axles with thier quick change? It looks like most of you guys are using newer tubes and drums.
Mine...I'm running a full '48 Merc flathead with it. It's bulletproof, although a little loud above 45 MPH..
go big or stay home......I use the big Halibrand in my 32 hemi build.....and I have a winters/spadaro deal to go into my A(when?I dunno)
Zman. Did you get that together yet? You are gonna love that Goldtrak locker.... See you at the Drags, -Abone.
It's not quite done, still have to set up the brakes and I need some axles drilled for 5x4.75, but it's all here.... After VLV I'll start getting the Roadster ready for the drags...
