A good friend of mine called me late last summer and told me of this old rat rod style car on the other side of the block from his house. He knows that iI am always looing for this type of stuff. He was not sure what it was but told me to check it out. I had tried to get ahold of the owner and so has others in my area who are in to the older rods and we had not succeded before winter( he is a truck driver. I have gave up on it but thought you would like to see some pics of it. these where taken in the fall of 2005. Bob
How sad, I know it's just and old race car but at one time it was some ones hero. About 40 years ago I idolized thoughs guys who drove the roadsters and alters.
Cut down and chopped up 5 window Deuce isn't it? Must be quite a bit of history wrapped up in that one. Cool to the 10th power!
Looks like a 32 five window coupe with the top cut away. The body could be saved with some tubing interstructure and a repro cowel top. The rear deck could be replaced with some sheet metal. Channel it over a rectangular tube frame and you'd have a nice "step in" roadster. Diamond plate floor and firewall, bomber seats, and an old Olds, Caddy, or Nailhead for power. I want it!
A old race car, a flattie and a trailer..........all out in the open...... Around here....that would have been stolen.....in short order.... I know of 3 trailers stolen in the past year.
I like the pump pipe front of the chassis and roll bar!! I also like the FI on the Flatty.....VERY sweet!
very neat old car. a fuelly, flathead, duece....wow...those aren't usually found on the side of the road.
Man, if he's a trucker, find his base, his boss or his wife and relay a message that you'd like him to call you about the car. Give your phone number, try to get his cell number, and then keep after it. Call like every other week until he gets back with you. -Brad
acouple of things i forgot to mention about the car was. 1) you can see where a pice of another body was spliced in to make it longer. 2) the top surround and the steering wheel is made out of conduit. Bob
WOW! That's just awesome in every way. If you aren't getting it, I hope it's at least being rehabbed by someone. I love it.
dont give in, it took me a year to get my TD. (and i am sure there are guys on here with stories a shit load longer than that.) persitance pays off!!!
Hey! If you are giving up, let me know where the car is located, and I'll take over for ya! I'm a trucker, I can relate to the owner. Good luck getting that sucker!
