Hi all, Glad I finally registered! I live in Hawaii and am now working on an old Grumman Olsonette that will be used as a small food truck. It has sat for 10 years before I bought it and it needs a good going through mechanically. The aluminum body seems to have kept the frame in great shape though. It's a C10 chassis with a straight 6 and TH350. We'll be lowering it, adding discs, etc. I see a couple other examples on this board that are farther along and I look forward to getting advice and sharing some ideas on these little trucks. Thanks! Paul

Food truck? Onolicious! I like one lau lau plate lunch, please. Two scoops rice, one scoop macaroni salad. To go, eh....
Aloha Paul from Puna . I live in Puna also in Hawaiian acres .I have A 50 dodge gasser and 65 dodge dart .If you see me around say hi .
Aloha from the Garden Island (Kauai). How was the rain on your end of the Hawaiian chain? As for us, twas crazy. landslides, floods, collapsed roads, rivers in people homes. Hahaa
Rain was fairly normal here, though it seems to have been one of the wetter years. A lot of times when you're getting hammered up there, it's nicer than usual down here. Must be something to do with the trade winds(?) Not too much flooding goes on here either, the Big Island is still pretty "porous"...LOL
Eh Paul, I am new here to the site. My brother that is exactly the stepvan model I am looking for. I would appreciate the story and any information you have on this stepvan. Noticed there is also another food wagon with the same stepvan in Maui maybe you might know or could probably provide some insight on set up on your stepvan. Would really appreciate any story, information or additional pictures on your new purchase. Take care stay safe and looking forward to your progress..... Aloha
Thanks again for the welcome everyone! Hawaiian 54 - I'll post some pics in the stepvan group when I have a few more and am further along on the project. I saw the truck on Maui, I think that one is a Ford chassis if I remember right. I am wondering if they were milk trucks way back when. There are a few other Olsonettes on the forum too... Mine is a Chevy P10 chassis; same as the C10 1/2 ton pickup, but the P10 wheelbase is only 102". My truck also has the C10 coil/trailing arm suspension instead of leafs. This truck is sort of a poi dog, it has a 250 engine (not original one) and a TH350 and 12 bolt rear end. Gauge clusters were from a '54 Chevy pickup (rotted out and unusable now), and the column I haven't dated yet. To make it even more of a poi dog I just dragged home an '87 Suburban in really good shape and will be moving the front discs/suspension/power steering/power brakes/rear axle over to the Olsonette. Also, the bumpers turn out to be an exact fit as well. The Suburban has a SBC and a 700r (I think) but I will be sticking with the straight six and TH350 if possible.
Was wondering if you had pics of your build? Just started mine back up after hibernating for a few years lol! Want to add the same- PS, PB and disk as well. Did the swap go smoothly?
