Hi guys I am just about to make up some fuel lines (copper) on my flathead running dual 97's on a Pm-7.
Not sure where to buy NPT br*** fittings as I am in Melbourne Australia I have already driven to all the local hose doctors with no luck not much in the way of NPT here in Oz.
Hopefully you guys can suggest some on line suppliers?

    Thanks Fnjunk

Man I'm going to stop taking Ace Hardware for granted. About a block from my house and have all of that stuff.

Have you tried a local hardware store?

This guy is in Australia, so he may have a different problems. Does anybody know if British pipe fittings are the same as ours? If so, he probably doesn't have a problem, but if not, it looks like he'll have to import them. I myself, have no idea.

I know for a fact that they are not.
"BSPT" ( British standard pipe thread) are their own animal. We have many at work, mostly on gauge and test fittings, strangely enough, the Germans use these on most of their equipment:confused:

The Speedway website and their catalog has fittings for almost anything including hard to find brake line fittings. I don't know if they ship to your location or what you would have to pay for import fees. Good luck.

Is the an Auto Zone in AU? I normally buy the only one they have every time I go. They only keep one at a time here in NY

  12. I get NPT fittings from a mob called IFS here in Adelaide, The Melboune branch-number is 0397063133.
You can get some NPT fittings to "sort of" go onto BSP fittings as they are 1 TPI out, but you have to put some thread tape on there. IFS have some NPT-BSP adapters which are kinda handy too.

It would be easy enough for one of us to run to the hardware store here if you had a shopping list and paypal but the postage to Australia is going to be more than the total of the fittings and

Could you possibly get a tap in the sizes of the bsp fittings you have available and re-tap the holes(if they are close in size)?
Would really confuse people if your car ever makes it back to the states. Haha

I might suggest you get some adapters from U.S. NPT, to a corresponding BSP size. That way, there's no permanent modifications to the "hard" parts, and hoses and hard lines could be easily sourced from a local outlet.
    McMaster-Carr should have those available.

McMaster Carr doesn't sell to anyone outside the US unless its a company that's had an account for a number of years.

I'm in Sydney. Is there a Masters hardware in Melbourne ? They have a heap of the smaller size br*** fittings and adaptors and **** all hanging on display . Stuff you used to be able to get at Bunnings. Not sure on thread type ( npt or bps) . I'm a plumber and it's in their plumbing section. It's gotten me outta the **** a few times. Hope this helps.

Yeah, they stopped any sales to new international customers because of some of the new laws related to homeland security and exports. Because they sell thousands of small orders every day, it would have taken an army of additional people just to make sure they weren't violating any of the export rules. ****s for the guys in other countries since there's likely no other company in the world that carries the range of products McMaster handles, and they always seem to have everything in stock regardless of how obscure it might be.

One other place to try would be air conditioning and refrigeration supply houses. I ***ume a lot of industrial and commercial air conditioning equipment has been imported to Oz from the US, and much of this equipment lasts for 20 years or more. This equipment uses a lot of small br*** NPT to flare adapters for connecting gauges and pressure operated controls to the main piping via copper tubing. I wouldn't think manufacturers like Carrier or Trane would've used BSP threads for these connections on their export units, so there would be an ongoing need for NPT br*** fittings in that market for repairs and replacement work.

Since you're planning to pipe this with copper, any mechanical connections should be flared rather than any sort of compression fittings due to vibration. An AC&R supply house would also have special short flare nuts for use on copper lines subject to vibration. The long flare nuts typically used on water lines and similar non-vibrating applications are much more likely to cause the tubing to crack at the base of the flare over time.

All this said, I'm not a fan of copper gas lines particularly at or around an engine. If copper-nickel alloy brake line tubing is available there, it would be a much safer alternative for gas lines.

  26. You can get by this problem by having a U.S. Forwarding Adress like Shipito. I order stuff for work and sometimes find out that they will not send anything overseas, so I re-order using a U.S. Adress, and the order goes through.
No plumbers supply places (at least the 15 or so that I use) have anything in NPT.
