I have a set of these I purchased probably 6 years ago from King of Dice on my '57. I too would most certainly buy a set of they were to be made again. I recall paying in the neighborhood of $300 for the set, but the quality is amazing and I'd pay more for the same quality pieces.

I need Appletons on a -48-53 era custom car , the last set of 552:s were made mid fifties possibly and superseded by the regular dummy spotlight design on Appleton handles , made by Appleton and sold by George Barris according to advertising in the little fifties custom car magazines , I think that was the origin of the "regular dummy" spotlight we see made today .
The Kustom Kraft reproduction was a step in the right direction to make a "Appleton 112 / 552 looking spotlight" and they have beautified many customs , with the raised intrest for traditional customs and a original set valued between 800 - 3000 dollar depending on quality it should be a natural replacement for those that doesn't want to spend the big bucks for the few and far between original sets . If there could be a handle even if the spotlight is not working that be the ticket ! Good luck with endeavor .

Producing complete real or dummy spotlights involves manufacturing a bucket/shell that accepts a rim, a rim, reflector, bulb, mounting bracket and fasteners, handle etc. All plated of course ......and affordable to boot.
A huge, expensive and risky undertaking.

The only improvement I can think of would be to put a chopped '51 Merc under a pair of them.

That's good news, especially if they look as good as the Layman version.
How about functional repops of 552's? Wonder what the market would be for that?

  10. Will they, like everything else, be made in China??

I'm going into production as of next week. I'm glad everyone is pumped on these. I have invested a lot of time into it. It's going to be nice to get some cool product out to everyone.

I have a set of the same layman spots my dad gave me but they're missing the lens. Where could I acquire a couple lens or the material to cut it out of?
